All correct.
Very strong Cork Junior team. Should win another All Ireland if they get over Kerry.
Yeah Tipp won by five points.
No they didn’t
Tipp won 1-15 to 0-13. ( Ye cunts )
Its a Cork/Tipp thing.

5 debut’s on the Cork team, an exciting and very pacy forward line.

kev,
when is the last time Counihan named a team and actually started those 15 players??!! Be a shock if the 15 named actually start
Limerick will never have a better chance of catching Cork out. If Galvin plays well then Limerick could do anything, and at 8/1 i will have an interest.
Seriously? This is best Cork team since they won All Ireland and Limerick are nowhere near where they were when they competed so well then with Cork.
That will be very very close if not the exact team. Certainly they wouldn’t be naming debutants and not starting them. Only possible changes are NOL in for Kissane or Donnacha in for Goulding or Kerrigan. I’d be pretty sure the not naming the right team is over for championship. Especially with those new selectors.
Do you think Canty is a center back to win an All Ireland with? Cork are very strong from midfield up but their backs can be got at. What do you see Cork winning by caoimhaoin?
I certainly prefer him in midfield and I would have been adventurous in the search for half backs thru the league, but they didn’t.
I would prefer mark Collins as the No.11 when Canty and Kissane are in the half back line as he is a far more defensive No.11 and I suspect he understands that role better and has played it more than Kelly who I’m surprised got in so quickly. Kissane’s form has improved and Canty, albeit at midfield had a very good league. The full back line is arguably the strongest in the country, I certainly wouldn’t take anyone over Cadogan or Shields and Cahalane is one of the best young defenders around. Any one of the 3 could be our centre back and I’d love to facilitate Shields there but it looks like it won’t happen. I don’t think Cork have sorted their half back line yet, but it’s not a weak back line as a unit.
On reflection though @kerry1981 might be proved right, I have a feeling Collins will start. You would assume they won’t pull an Armagh on it and not have roving players, and while Kelly is a rover, he’s not good at naturally covering a centre back. Collins is.

Bar maybe Cadogan - who everyone was reporting out - for O’Leary that’ll be the team. IIRC who doesn’t name dummy teams the first day out in championship.
Midfield is our weakest area, it’ll probably be Canty/Walsh down the line and neither can dominate in the air against quality midfields.
Well Limerick, as you suggest, are relying in one man to dominate. He’s banged up and is nowhere near the form of Walsh. So if he is beaten then what?
I would see a 0-16 to 0-09 type score to Cork.
The answer to you half back question is no, probably not on recent form and the way the game has gone. Tommy Carr made an outrageous and incorrect statement about Cork recently but his sentiment is somewhat fair. He said they were arrogant in thinking talent alone and not playing the modern game and having an extra back etc and Cork were lazy. Now he is partially correct, but lazy and arrogant, I don’t think so.
This back line would be my preferred. This is hopeful on form and return to form, obviously never a sure thing. James Loughry could be a bolter, reports are very good.
Ken O H
Jamie O Sull Cadogan, Cahalane
NOL Shields Clancy
Canty Walsh
Would be my preferred back 9
Easily the stupidest thing you have ever said.
Wait and watch, that Canty/Walsh midfield won’t do.
Aidan Walsh is the best midfielder in the game, put you in there with him and it will do ok.
It really depends on the rest of Corks system how well it all goes. Midfield is really about 8-10 players now, not 2. But your point about not being able to field is way off, and that was the basis for your judgement. That was stupid.
Its not stupid, Walsh regularly gets out-fielded in games, as does Canty. They won’t win the same amount of first time ball top-class midfields do. Saying Walsh is the best midfielder in the game is pretty hilarious.
Have you seen this partnership in the league? They’ve gotten destroyed in terms of their fielding. Their strengths lay in powerful running, not in fielding.
