Cork GAA 2014

Anyone worth looking at from the Sars/Midleton game TAN. I assume not.[/quote]
I was interested to see haughne y’s name. Of he is the lad that was minor in 08 then he is worthy of a chance. I an surprised he is midfield though as he struck me as a good neat corner forward. If it’s a different lad scratch that.
Hard to imagine sars would have anything new after the time they have been on

Lehane is lethal. That was the best individual performance in a county final since Corcoran in 1992.Lehane, Hoggie, O’Farrell, Moylan, Coughlan a fully fit Pa Cronin and Seamie Harnedy.Cork have the forwards to cause teams problems but we need a few half backs and a natural full back and of course JBM needs to improve as a manager tactically.

Did SARS not have someone to mark Lehane?

They need someone like Flannery or Sean O Brien to improve their hurling as well. Everywhere try have gone they have improved individuals skills. Cunningham seems to enjoy the structural and tactical side, and that’s need to, but skills can be improved. Cork don’t seem to see the need for this, it’s absolutely vital at the highest level to get those small things right. I don’t see any coach in the set up with a history of that. JBM did it himself at the Barr’s and Clough Duv, but that’s not what his role is now.

Saw Lehane’s performance on TG4 earlier. Sensational stuff.

I thought coaching skills was Ger Cunningham’s main strength?

JBM coached the cork minors to win an Ireland and then the seniors in 1999. Coaching has moved on but I imagine he would be okay at the coaching. Tactically JBM seems to just let players hurl almost free style. Made for some wonderful games in the all Ireland semi and finals and for that we should rejoice. But maybe not the best thing if you want to go the final step to win an all ireland

+1. The stuff dreams are made of. No matter what else he does in his life, that will never be eclipsed. He looks to be in phenomenal shape.

His performance in JBM’s first NHL game back as manager v Waterford was unreal too.

Yep, remember him putting points over from all angles. Delighted for him personally because he went through a very tough spell this year.

Surely the individual skills of Cork players has improved considerably over the past year. We wouldn’t have lived with Clare otherwise.

Same lad. A lot of people would say he is scared of his own shadow ala Naughton. Not sure that is true, but he never struck me as anything more than an above average club hurler.

Look like a load of 15 year olds.

Fuck off you clown. It’s not so long ago you were laughing at Lehane and calling Jamie Coughlan a better prospect.

Ha you clamped Turenne good there!

Link or never happened. Fuck knows what that has to do with the post I quoted.

Cork got very aerobically fit, that was the no 1 difference. To be honest I’d have to look back at the previous years games to be sure, but I think some improved some went back

From what I can pick up he looked after the strategy and coaching ya, but was it “How we play” or actual skills training. This is the issue with having a fitness person who hasn’t played the game. You could see Clare were superior with touch and skill in high paced situations, this is not by accident or purely natural ability. Cork didn’t seem to have the touch when the tempo upped.

I’ thinking the Donie Buckley of hurling, which is what, by all accounts, the likes of Flannery and O Brien are.

The trick is to try and marry high tempo training that test your skills and also works on your game plan. That’s not always that easy.

I’m not questioning any of these lads really, they made Cork a much better team. I expect Cork to move on a bit as well next year. Maybe I just look at it differently. But this year Clare beat Cork on and off the field.

Agree. It was much commented on throughout the year as far as i recall how much corks success was built on improved skill and first touch.

Bud Hartnett, is he the fellow that the transfer debacle was over?
