Cork GAA 2014

thought Pa Callaghan was near the panel, is Jamie Coughlan still on the panel? thought he would have been mentioned on the panel or injured list.

Read someone say some where they felt Callaghan was not ready yet. Could be complete bollix, but that was one rumour thrown out.

Brian Cuthbert has made seven changes in personnel from the win over Kildare, and a raft of positional switches. Following his Sigerson Cup-winning performance with UCC on Saturday night, Conor Dorman takes up the centre-back position, with the returning Eoin Cadogan at full back. In the corners, John McLoughlin and the injured Tom Clancy (Clon) make way for Alan Cronin and Noel Galvin. Tomás Clancy returns from injury to replace Brian O’Driscoll in the half-back line, while Fintan Goold moves to mid-field where he partners Aidan Walsh, with both Andrew O’Sullivan and Ruairi Deane dropping to the bench. Paul Kerrigan comes in at centre forward, in place of the injured Donncha O’Connor, while John Hayes starts at corner forward, replacing Dónal Óg Hodnett.

Injury update: Jamie O’Sullivan, Damien Cahalane and Patrick Kelly continue their rehab with the medical team and all three have made huge progress in the last two weeks.
Michael Shields is close to a return to playing after his knee injury. Tom Clancy (Clonakilty) is still recovering from the hamstring injury sustained in the Kildare game, while Donncha O’Connor picked up a muscle strain in training this week so has not been considered for this game.

another donal og @26 I see? is he a fudge packer aswell?

Dunno about O’Callaghan. Coughlan started center-forward against Laois.

He was average at best

Chairman Bob is being touted to run for FF some upcoming election. Meanwhile the stadium planning permission is becoming a farce. The good news is that Frank is contractually committed to stay around till its finished which at this rate would be around 2050.

Jaysus Bob would have no chance.

was talking to some people today who had very high praise for the current football set up and how the players are really buying into the new ideas and changes being brought in. despite the loss of players, sounds like the squad is setting itself up nicely. was talking about other things going on in cork like the rebel og etc, and to be honest, in comparison to Wexford at least, its light years ahead of our programs.

we’d be lost with Frank

Beautiful City, how do you think Youghal will do in the first round of the championship?

How do you think they will do, Jim?

Newtown will be a tough introduction to senior championship hurling for the lad’s but hopefully they will give a good account of themselves.

I actually think that there’s serious squad depth being developed already.Paul Kerrigan needs to put in a big performance against Dublin with Mark Collins John O’Rourke and the returning Paddy Kelly breathing down his neck. There’s plenty of promising players in Cork right now and to be honest im quietly optimistic that this team will be in Croke Park in September!

TBF, it sounds like they are getting things together regarding Rebel Og. Looks well organised, and they are continuously adding good people to the set up. Hopefully, the CCB follows through with the finances, because that has been a repeated problem.

Regarding the footballers, players aren’t there to compete with Dublin, regardless of how good the set up is. A quick look at some of the lads on the bench says it all.

Of course they are. A demoralised and poorly coached Cork team did ok against Dublin last year for periods of the game. Don’t over rate Dublin, they are a super team and great to watch, but clearly beatable.

Ciaran Sheehan is the missing link though and I think Cork are a year away from winning All Ireland.

will you be cheering on St.Ita’s this year @Beautiful City ?

Youghal should win considering Newtown will have half their junior team in action.

pity for paddy Kelly that Ger brennan isn’t playing…Kelly had afield day on him a few years ago in league final…
