Sars into the final. They went 1-5 to 0-1 up against NP, and then NP tagged them back but spurned a load of goal chances before Sars pulled away in the last ten again. Sars have no one new impressing, sounded like Cork Minor Eddie Gunning and the two Buckleys were good for NP.
Douglas/Glen drew, didn’t listen to it but apparently the Glen were well ahead before Douglas slowly pulled them back. Mark O’Connor supposed to have played well again and he got the equalising point, cert for Cork U-21s next year.

4-1. Rochestown, Youghal and Colmans yet to play in the Dean Ryan. Midleton favourites to win it out I believe, Fenway do you have their squad?
7 Cork teams playing in the Harty this year, all of them bar Midleton playing in a few days. Charleville and Midleton strongest at that level I believe.
Extremely tough. While i don’t personally know what its like, I grew up with someone in a similar position from a similar background and a pretty similar outlook. Its the only way, I have seen the despair of people who can’t deal with it and its heartbreaking.
Have you lads read this? I know him from his time in Mary I and the gym… As dedicated a lad to sport as you’ll find. Very sad. http://thescore.thejournal.ie/jamie-wall-cork-1701355-Oct2014/
I found this quite upsetting to read. Life can be extremely unfair.
Cork’s Aidan Walsh will commit to just one code at inter-county level next season after admitting his dual playing days are over.
The Kanturk man conceded he wasn’t able to give either the Cork footballers or hurlers 100% this past season and will make a decision on what team to line out for in the coming weeks.
“Overall, it was very difficult,” he said. “It’s something I can look back on and say I did it, but I don’t think I have any intention of doing again it for the coming year, or for the rest of my career. I’d say I’ll just try to focus on one of them. You can ask me the question ‘which one will you play?’ but I don’t know yet. I’m weighing up the pros and cons of the whole thing because it’s a very hard decision to make, especially with Cork, who are very strong in both of them. There are two very strong panels and it’s a very hard decision to make and one I will have to really think about of the next few weeks.”
The 24-year-old revealed he apologised to Jimmy Barry-Murphy as he was substituted after his below-par display for the hurlers in their All-Ireland semi-final loss to Tipperary.
“To put in such an effort all year, and then leave yourself down on the big day with 70,000 people there, and big, huge support from Cork, was very disappointing. My response to that was ‘never again’. I’m not putting myself in that position again.”
Walsh also said whatever call he makes will likely last for the remainder of his inter-county career.
“My career now and the age I’m at, I’d say whatever one I pick could be the one. I can’t really say but I’ll try and stick with it for a few years and get the most out of myself and get to the best quality you can get to. That is just taking it year by year and game by game. Whatever code you pick, you mightn’t get on the team at all, but we’ll see, play it by ear.”
In a discussion about football and hurling - fairly clear he is referring to his playing career.
Going back to college I think.
the rest of the dual players will most likely come to the same conclusion
Ah right, he went back and finished first year in DCU did he after?
Basically he’ll go to the footballers unless JBM stays on, or unless we replace JBM with someone of a similar stature. That amounts to about three people, Ger Cunningham, Donal O’Grady, Donal Og Cusack, and none of these will get offered the job in a million years. I guess maybe he’ll stay if Kingston stays on. So pretty much either JBM stays or Walsh walks.
Football is his known first choice. This wouldn’t be even a debate if it was in Counihans era, but there are rumours of people (players or those close to them) questioning Cutberts ability. Probably those who weren’t involved with him before.
Ballyhea in the Premier Intermediate final on Sunday, so I’ll be making the trip down. Looking forward to it now. Moved to Dublin nine years ago, and I’m struggling to remember if I’ve even made it down to a game since. Great excitement at home apparently.
Was talking to a Newcestown man last week, he said there is a good rivalry between them and Ballyhea in recent times and never much in it. Should be a good final.
Newcestown have a ridiculous record in finals though. It also would be remarkable to see them senior in both codes. I think it would make them pound for pound the best club in Cork.
Midleton won in the Dean Ryan yesterday. Colmans lost AET. Two Cork teams (C’Ville/Midleton) and two Tipp teams (T’More/Thurles) in the semis.

What do Newcestown weigh?
Glen destroyed yesterday by Sars. Unfortunately they are the kind of slow lumbering giants that Sars love playing, Glen always too slow to catch up with the little quick of feet Sars lads who excel in quick smart passing and creating space. Conor Sul destroyed Hoggie, who again missed numerous easy frees. Needs a year out honestly, go travelling or something.
Tadgh Og, Fraggie and Ray Ryan best on show apparently, JBM must be weeping.
