How Waterford and Limerick never met at U21 between 2015 and 2017 is one of lifes great mysterys.
Whoâs gonna write the book on Limerick lads? Is there anyone fit to do it justice?
I hope its called âBoys will be boysâ and details all their off field carry on too.
Cian Lynch going to mass, the NaP boys on a Latte tasting tour and Declan Hannon house hunting in Dublin.
A chapter for Breenies boy too youâd feel
Chapter One: Where It Began
It all started when PJ put his Communion money on Mister Donovan in 1982âŚ
Chapter Two: Big Joe leaves the bog
Chapter Three: Dalo
Most of Waterfordâs strongest lads were gone after the 2016 success though. A Shane Bennett inspired team still managed to give Cork a right rattle in 2017. 2016 was the year for a classic Limerick v Waterford U21 clash.
Patrick Curran, Shane Bennett, Conor Gleeson, Conor Prunty, Darragh Lyons, Calum Lyons, Jack Prendergast, Peter Hogan Colm Roche and Billy Nolan all played that night.
It was an absolutely savage Waterford team.
Fergal Horgan absolutely done them with a few bizarre late calls.
Yeah still a very strong team alright. Albeit not quite as iconic without the 95â crew of Austin Gleeson, Stephen Bennett, Tom Devine and even that very good underage hurler DJ Foran. Devine was a real throwback full-forward once upon a time.
Wouldnât be the first time the bollox
But Corkâs underage has greatly improved over the past 5 plus years?
Will be interesting to see the team we pick for next year - surely there will be some personnel changes?
After Clareâs performance yesterday, we will go into the game as heavy underdogs.
Ye are 8/11 favs
Inexplicable.
This Cork team have always beaten Clare. Clare dont have the athleticism to close them down. Iâd expect a grande lovely game with Cork to win something like 1-39 to 2-34.
Devine was a huge loss to the senior set up. Another chap whose departure Derek hastened youâd imagine. Genuine ball winner and a handful for any full back. And that was when he was still an u21.
Hard to keep at it in his profession in fairness
In fairness Derek had nothing to do with it.
He went abroad for a few years and is a Doctor so hurling would be well down the priorities.
Sounds imagined alright.
