Cork GAA - They're going home! - sponsored by Sports Direct and Super Valu

A fantastic hurler with a great skill set. However, the modern game requires lads to buy into a system and sacrifice their natural game to this end. There were a couple of occasions in 2nd half yesterday where Lehane went for crazy scores out by sideline. That just wont do at intercounty where you scores to chances need to be high percentage.

In a different era, he would have multiple all stars. He has been given plenty of chances to demonstrate his ability to be part of a system but has failed repeatedly.

The club game as it is suits him down to the ground.

Morrissey and Hegarty take on mad shots in the Limerick set up. With a player of his talent you design that into the plan, and manufacture ways to help him thrive. There is no other player in Cork hurling capable of doing what Lehane can do, and he is binned. Ye could have done with him in the AI final

Id give Midleton a decent chance against to me what is a very average Kilmalock side. Kilmalock were taken to extra time by South Liberties so Midleton are worth a bet.

I’d agree with that to an extent. However, his workrate is terrible. We carry Hoggy but there is no way to accommodate the two of them.

How many all stars have Midleton from last year?

we’ve been down this road before and we can’t find a common ground so there’s no point going down it again

Maybe one is an impact sub then? Either way it’s the manager’s job to manage, if they’re not getting the best out of the players then they’re probably doing something wrong.

Yeah, fair point. Our coaching has been diabolical last few years. With Furlong and Mulcahy now on board this should improve appreciatively. He may be worth another chance on that basis.

What difference does all stars make to a club game?

He clearly has a lot to offer. His motivation surely couldn’t be higher. I don’t see how cork can afford to ignore him.

If Lehane has a big Munster Club series, it will be very hard for them to deny him surely

Put the house on it pal.

Exactly, if Midleton go on a run in this and Lehane plays lights out, then he might be worth another look.

Playing well in the Cork County Championship isn’t enough evidence.

Where else is a cork fella supposed to play well ?

This particular Cork fella has already shown that he wasn’t able for the increased physicality / intensity of modern intercounty game.

That’s the million dollar question.

In truth they were much better than Liberties that day if anyone watched that full game. Started in 2nd gear won it in 3rd.

It will be close enough but I fancy Kilmallock as long as they retain a focus given the gap

Also home venue worth a few points

Ballygunner a good bit ahead I think

Kilmallock would be better off playing in Limerick.
