There is part of me thats delighted about this.

Fucking idiots. Knock one stadium before you have go ahead for the re-vamp. No doubt they were “advised” to get moving quickly by Hillary Loftus

So the next thing that will happen is a proposal from Cork that all Munster Championship hurling be played at a neutral venue.

Kerry could end up owing Cork about eight games in a row in the Munster football championship at this rate.

Saying “but it’s for the GAA, shur” won’t cut it with Lars and Boris in Brussels.

Frank will get this sorted, if he has to utterly destroy Cork GAA, he’ll get this sorted.

Stephen McDonnell is the new hurling captain

I think they’ve regressed but mainly due to lads getting older. Flannery is very highly thought of there.

Ya his record is actually incredible, has been winning all round him now for 6-7 years. Bit of a roarer and shouter i believe but obviously has plenty other skills and does improve teams hurling.

Many ways to skin a cat i suppose.

Good to see. Not cos he is a Glen man and they won the county, but because he’s a Glen man with steel.

He is a great lad. Bit mad to be captain but hugely likeable

Yip. Like most city hurling folk. On all those points

Cussen off to Blackrock according to lads on B&B?

Midleton beaten in the Harty, Hamilton hammered by DLS. Roco looking good though, hammered Youghal and didn’t need to play Kingston. 7-8 serious hurlers on that Rochestown team, might be the ones to beat ASR.

is the harty cup for schoolchildren?

Cork hurlers are doing Crossfit!!!

:joy: fantastic

The trainer will keep the physio busy*

*i am aware they are the same person

Its shocking. But sure they want to learn the hard way so let them learn the hard way.

Could do alot of damage to physios rep though. And he has a good one. This stinks of greed, and obviously by engaging in Crossfit he is not as qualified as he or others think. The thing is, Crossfit is a goldmine for physios, as people on here can testify to. Madness.

Is there any danger he’ll get away with it since the lads would be in fairly good shape anyway and make shit of club teams nationwide?

Its not about being in shape though, its about being technically proficient in everything you are asked to do and as well as the fact that its a one size fits all approach which is deeply flawed.
The issue is a few teams have had success with it or with association with Crossfit. Nemo did it this year. Their injury list was a mile long and they ended up using 8 of their intermediate team. But they won, so some lunatics are going to think thats worth it.

But if course there is multiple reasons Nemo won

  • Cork standard is gone to shit
  • years of good coaching with a skill and footballing brain emphasis
  • Crossfit will make you fit and tough, that cannot be denied, so they were super fit.
  • Nemo have depth like nobody else outside Dublin

And your question is very pertinent, and a very good one. Reason being Crossfit is kinda survival of the fittest. If you have great mechanics and natural strength and power it can bring you to extrodinary heights quickly. So in regards to the Cork team, Inter County players being generally robust and obviously the cream of the crop (and usually cos they have ohysical advantages) more of them will survive than the general population. However the injuries are never small ones. And IC Players still drive cars, sot at desks and do all the modern dysfunctional things that makes the Crossfit approach dangerous. Elite athletes are always on the edge so i would think Crossfit with elite anateur athletes is the most dangerous combination of all.

Without trying to blow out my ass, to put it simply, i think i would get a team or an individual to the same level in 6 months that Crossfit may do in 3. However i will lose virtually nobody. My last 2 years over 5 teams in games lost is;
3 games x PCL
1 game x hamstring
6 game x MCL

Thats 3 people out of 5 teams, and i could easily argue that the 2 knee injuries were completely out of my control. However they still happened on my watch so i count them.

Now i’m not special in this regard and many of my peers are seeing similar results. We basically use a layered system, where as Crossfit is “crash bang wallop” from the get go and see who survives.

So for a small club it could ruin them.

You are also introducing a competitive element to Olympic lifting amongst competitive lads so form will go out the window.
