Cork, the softest of cunts (Part 2)

Way overegged.

Ultimately they were playing a Tipperary team sticking their chests out in an All Ireland Final. That’s only ever ending one way.

He was a fantastic player and the game will be poorer without him.

He was being carried for his free taking and failed

In fairness it was a poor enough Cork team who lost the run of themselves after blasting Dublinn

He missed handy chance to put cork 7 up v Clare if I recall correctly

I was think you are right.

8 even I think it was.

No it was an excellent Cork team but running into Tipperary in an All Ireland Final is like putting an ice cube in the Sahara.

Didnt know ye were top of the roll of honour.

I don’t think there’s room for him in the 6 best forwards of this century. Doubtless he’s the top marksman in the record book but this is a record that held on the football side by Cillian O’Connor. Guess what else connects them - You’re right. The Celtic crosses….

Croke Park on All Ireland Final day is a playground for Tipperary Hurlers.

Horgan’s missed opportunities were against Clare in 2013 and 2024.

I wouldn’t count the 2021 Final as it was a mickey mouse All Ireland during Covid.

He wouldn’t make the top 12 forwards this century.

Off the top of my head are light years ahead of him.

Players that stood up on the biggest of occasions and delivered.

I’d have Mullane in there.

How many medals has he?

100% … they were just the few that came straight to mind. Mullane would be way ahead of him.

Hard to argue with that. Horgan was more aesthetically pleasing and gifted than most but ultimately it’s about delivering on the big days, as painful as that may be to admit for some.
In fairness he did have some brilliant moments in croke park like that point to put them ahead in the 2013 dying minutes, but not enough alas.

He hit about 5 or 6 wides in the AISF against Limerick in 2018. A bad day on the frees again, if I recall.

The rest is history, as they say.

Anyone that watches sport knows what’s what. At the very top it’s about delivering. End of.
