Cork v Clare MSHC Semi Final 2014

The game is in June. Clare are not yet at a stage where they can coast through their first game on the basis they will peak later in the summer. If they come with that attitude they will be dumped out fairly quickly. I don’t think Davy is that naïve. Clare against KK, Dublin or Galway in a qualifier while they are still sluggish in July is not where he wants to be. The open draw means teams cannot peak for later in the season the way they once could.

I can see that losing a Munster Final (he will still want to win it) may not be the end of the world as you skip a few qualifier rounds and come out for a QF but risking losing your first match as a strategy is dumb.

Clare will beat Cork.

Thurles demands a LK v Clare Munster Final.

did you watch the Christy Ring final pal?

I don’t think we said that. Just it’s not the end of the world to lose. Which it clearly isn’t

As expected, Sean and Podge Collins will not be togging for the Footballers Saturday night

Could SĂ©an be in line for a return? Until Podges explosion of form last year SĂ©an would have always been considered the better hurler of the two, no?

Sean is supposedly going very well at the moment, may well be used off the bench but I just don’t see where he fits. I wouldn’t agree with the second bit, the fact he is 3 or 4 years older than Podge and was part of the 2009 21s A/I side, played senior football for Clare at 19 and starring for Cratloe meant he had a bigger reputation.

I think most would have rated Podge highly but due to him being slighter than Sean were surprised to see him breaking through as quickly as he did. Podge was excellent for the Clare minors in 2010 and most would have seen him as having more hurling that Sean but obviously being smaller felt it might hold him back

Good to see him back anyway.

Cork will win this handy enough.

A draw.

Hopefully not
It will be close alright, I just think Cork’s forwards will do more damage. Is Honan fit?

Jesus, I hope not!

15-on-15 Clare are superior and should win but Cork have 2 games played and that’ll help them. Another draw would see a seriously tuned side facing us on 13/7.

When would a possible Cork-Clare replay take place? 2 weeks from next Sunday?

Nobody seems to be giving Limerick a chance whoever wins. That’ll suit the squad’s siege mentality.

Its a teege mentality, pal

Teege mentality, I like it.

Going to stick a tenner on a draw for this weekend, I doubt there will be a puck of the ball in it either way.

Possibly but I reckon they could go a week earlier in the event of a second replay being required, however unlikely. Cork would want the two week break in fairness as, otherwise, they’d be out 4 weeks in a row and have two dual players.

Even with no draw, Walsh will have gone 3 successive weeks in 2 codes as the footballers are due to play Tipp on Saturday 21st.

Actually, the more I think about it, a replay would have to be on the weekend of the 29th.

Rumour in Clare is that there will be a couple of surprises in the team that starts v Cork, two players who wouldn’t have looked like figuring come the end of the league are going very well in training in recent weeks and are expected to start. One of them didn’t figure in the league whatsoever but looks like he will benefit from the injuries to O’Donnell and Cunningham.

Would be surprised if it turned out to be true but it could be a good move as it would show lads that the team is going to be picked on form and will keep competition for places ticking over nicely

FFS. Keep that off the internet!!

I would fear for chewys safety if he gives away any more information.
So far the management have shown no interest in the player but it could happen. It will be a set back for honan if he doesn’t make it. fairly similar trajectory to eddie brennan in some ways in that brennan was tall and quick but people questioned his ability to win his own ball and his desire

I think THE player could put in a strong performance if THE player is indeed selected. But there’s OTHER players in the shake up too.
