The rockies team that won the minor around 95 only had Brian O Keefe make the Cork panel, I was the same age group as Deccie and Alan Browne, Bishopstown had a couple of decent players, Piarsaighs had one or two, Mark Sull probably the best, Barrs and the Glen not much, Iād say Deccie was the best hurler on the city, not 100% sure why he never stuck with it, I used to meet him around UCC back then but he was already stepping away.
Cork team named
- Anthony Nash - Kanturk
- Stephen McDonnell - Glen Rovers (Capt)
- Damian Cahalane - St Finbarrās
- Colm Spillane - Castlelyons
- Christopher Joyce - Na Piarsaigh
- Mark Ellis - Millstreet
- Mark Coleman - Blarney
- Bill Cooper - Youghal
- Darragh Fitzgibbon - Charleville
- Seamus Harnedy - St Itaās
- Conor Lehane - Midleton
- Shane Kingston - Douglas
- Alan Cadogan - Douglas
- Patrick Horgan - Glen Rovers
- Luke Meade - Newcestown
Not a bad team at all I think ye could pull off a shock
Not a hope
Good one Joe.
No idea why Fitzgibbon is starting and Brosnan isnāt but I suppose they play the same role so it hardly matters. Tipp by 8.
No John O Flynn was on 94 squad. It was 94 they won. Junior played in 95 then.
95 was backboned by Imokilly players. Had 5 midleton.
Johnny Flynn was a fantastic player, was he on that Rockies team that won the Minor? Adrian Coughlan was a very good player as well, Barry Hennebry too. Anywayā¦

Cork got little senior wise from the 1998 winners .
Dan Murphy was some bear of a minor
Played for years with Monaleen underage. Went on to captain cork intermediate side that won an all-Ireland if Iām not mistaken.
He captained at least one u21 winning team, not certain about the intermediate?
I think Pat Mulcahy captained that Cork intermediate team. Was season after Newton won intermediate and Mulcahy had also won senior county with avondhu. 96 or 97?
Interested to see team sheet for that intermediate win. Iād say good few came through off it
He was centre back in 97 I think. Thought he was captainā¦ maybe notā¦ interestingly his former club mate John Cormican lifted the cup the following year for Limerick.
Over a decade of Cork-Tipperary playing service, now set to cheer on as hurling fans
Looking forward to this now. Weāll get hammered and the Munster Championship isnāt what it once was but there is no better sport than hurling.
