Heās dealing with a better hand than Michael Ryan though. If a Waterford All Ireland winning minor team stamp their credentials by coasting to an U21 title three years later, thatās a once in a generation crop of players for Waterford that they should be cashing in on.
I think lucky General Sean āScourā Power will come in and lead these chaps to All Ireland glory again.
Were Waterford flat all year and why?
Low Pressure Esteem.
Whoās Tony
On the wireless all the talk was of Cork needing to weather this Waterford storm at start of 2nd half. Cork just came out flying.
A great coach used to say to us at half time every week regardless. We will win the first 5 mins here lads and we will come up with a plan thenā¦
first 5 of second half a lot more important than first 5 of game but tend not to get half the focus
Has he ever managed at Senior club level? Minor and 21 totally different ball game to senior
No.
No.
To my untutored eye, Waterford looked a better side last year than they had in the years that preceded.
They look to me to have players that could go 15 on 15 with any side, but itās managements prerogative to set out the stall.
I donāt think theyāll play as badly again, and Iād not like to get them in the qualifiers. Iād love to see them draw kk. It would be a brilliant match. If they could beat them, theyād have the tails up,and be a real threat to anyone.
Personally, I think substituting your talisman is usually a bad idea.
Class is permanent.
I thought theyād a great chance of winning the AI this year.
If Galway donāt win an all Ireland this year they may as well scrap this team and start again. All 3 of the other 4 semi finalists look weaker than last year, some significantly so.
Hard to judge Cork yet, they are a team on the rise, but weāve yet to see someone really get at them (which is to Corks credit obviously).
Wexford on the rise too but I think the semiās is their max.
Galway the only really seasoned team that donāt seem to have gone backwards this year.
Waterford are in no mans land at the minute for me, theyāve gone away from their super defensive style since Tipp made a mockery of it and tried to be more orthodox. Theyāve lost their defensive foundation without compensating with forward play.
They are still trying the low % shots, from way out. That was fine when they had no forwards because the other team wouldnāt score much either. But now they need to put up big scores and those long range shots need to be mixed in with long balls into the forwards.
No clare there I know we wonāt win but why is Waterford in the mix
Sorry Joe Clare should be there, more anti-Clare bias from me, Iād expect the final four this year to be Cork & Galway as winners and it depends on the draw then. Clare & Wexford as losing finalists might struggle against whoever comes through the backdoor on the back of two wins but it depends very much on the draw and how the losers handle the turn around. One side of it could potentially be very weak. If Tipp/Waterford draw KK and the winners meet the other of Tipp/Waterford then thereāll be a very average team on the other side.
Clare looked very average the day they beat us, but we are so shit we bring out the worst in teams. Itāll be a very interesting Munster final ye are very much in the long grass now.
Limerick will be in the mix itās set up for ye to have a run it would be be great for hurling and tfk
Iām hoping we draw Dublin or KK Joe. See if our boys have any fight in them. No point limping on further if we canāt beat either.
A big difference between Dublin and KK. There will be no fight from the Dubs under Cunningham. KK is the test ye want.
The back door could be the ideal preparation that Kilkenny need this year, improve with every game, give fellas confidence in their positions, lads with injuries coming back, scrape into a semi final and God knows what could happen after that.
Or we could draw Tipp next Monday and be finished by the following Saturday
I think everyone in the qualifiers is thinking the same about their own team, mate.
WE ARE KILKENNY
