The best 19 year old to apparently ever play the game was terrible for Gleeson’s match clinching third goal. Let him walk in.

He did in his hole let him walk in. He’s a left half-back who was the only Cork defender not to neglect his defensive duties, caught as the last man back in a 2 v 1 with a man scot free outside him. There isn’t a player in Ireland who wouldn’t struggle in that position.

Brian Corcoran made a disastrous individual error for the clinching goal in the 1992 All-Ireland final.

That won’t suit the narrative, though.

I’m not wrong. Coleman is an absolutely superb player, turned in another classy performance today in defeat and has shown more assurance and maturity than any 19 year old I’ve ever seen play the game. He’s an absolute star and will be one of the all-time greats.

Well that was before it was clear that Tuohy will be able to play the final and the GAA were going to “sweep” that one under the carpet for doing something worse that TDB did…and the same as what Gleeson did! If Tuohy plays the final which he will, all things being equal so should AG!

In fairness any time a lad gets sent off in a big game of hurling it’s excused and down played.

“He’s not that type of player.”

“It’s not malicious.”

“Very harsh to miss a Munster/Leinster/AI final for that.”

“He’s been training for months, he’s a great lad, impeccable disciplinary record.”

“He’s distraught, common sense should prevail.”

Dub hurler Liam Rushe on twitter saying Owens was a disgrace for sending off Conor Gleason. For ffs. Refs can’t win, they get hammered even when they correctly dish out red cards for stone wall sending off offences.

The other Gleeson by the letter of the law committed a red card offence too but I hope, like Tuohy, he can play in the final.
