You clearly believed that border controls were not an option due to EU rules/frowning. You seemed unaware that many countries within the EU had border controls. Border controls were always an option and was one of the measures used by NZ. I never said it was the only measure but it seems to be the one many have zoned in on.
You seem to have difficulty with either reading or comprehension, or both.

You’re right, border controls seem to be at the heart of the NZ response from the outside to me. They didn’t have many cases and by closing the borders totally they didn’t get many more.
If ongoing border controls (and it’s border closure not controls that NZ has right?) aren’t the key difference in how they responded - what other measures do you suggest we adapt from them?
It’s not really spike in deaths. It’s just the result of an under reporting of deaths over the bank holiday weekend.

Tuning in to the news on RTÉ +1 and they seem to have an “Ireland Remembers” section on before the Angelus with names and pictures of Covid-19 victims. To quote Liam Brady, I had to turn it off it was so hard hitting, Eamonn.
I’ve become numb to the numbers and the statistics but sometimes you just need to remember there are names and families behind every one of those deaths. RIP

Look at the modelling of our Ro, it was going below 1 before we decided to shut up construction and other industries.
It really isn’t hearsay, there is stacks of evidence to back it up. People aren’t Captain Hindsighting either, they’re accepting the validity of the reasons for the hard restrictions at the end of March, from a risk mitigation standpoint to a resource and capacity one. Things have moved on now though, there’s new information there. There’s better capacity and testing.
Holohan just stated that the WHO said this will come in waves. Are you saying we should just halt a large percentage of the economy indefinitely?
