Coronavirus - Close the Airports

In fairness what makes doctors so great that they are up on a pedestal?

Lads who got 600 points in the leaving and have PhD md after their name. They still fail exams in college and struggle to get to end. We as society take their word as gospel but when they fuck up generally doesnt end well. Cervical cancer scandal is a big one. Covid has been another. Its incredibly hard to take a GP to the medical council for malpractice as they all stick together and you have to go abroad for independent assessment.
Dont trust the fuckers, if you arent sure with what they say get a second opinion. You’d do it with your car if you think the mechanic is pulling your leg

Who are these “real experts”?. Tony Holohan?

The statement that Covid-19 is far less serious for most people infected than the flu is factual. Just as the statement that Covid-19 is far more serious than the flu for some people is factual. Both statements are based on actual data.

You’re starting to unravel.

Relax.

It’s all the one now. The lockdown has destroyed the country. It will take years to get over

The virus hasnt helped much either you’d have to think.

A whole generation destroyed by Tony Holohan and the coward Varadkar.

The amount of unnecessary damage done. The backlog from all the other medical issues will cost the health service a fortune going forward.

Lads who built up businesses for years have seen their life’s work destroyed.

Whole industries are finished.

Kids can’t see their friends. Can’t partake in sports.

We will emerge from this a shell of the country we were

We could build social housing on them then. Win win

Factual in your head.

I had an antibody test today.

And?

What we know so far, according to the “experts”…

“The virus doesn’t go to Aldi, Lidl or Tesco, but it likes bars, restaurants and small businesses. You can avoid it by staying 2km from your house, but go 2.1km and you will get infected. It cannot live on food take outs, because it stays inside restaurants. It lives on all surfaces, except the groceries you buy and take home or something that comes in the mail, from China. It survives in the air but is only really active on beaches and in parks, where it can travel up to 6 ft but not 6ft 1 inch”.

It’s a rugby and horse racing forum to be fair. Sure the logo is a lad taking a conversion.

A breakdown of excess deaths based for the whole of the EU (including UK)

Some countries have been hammered. Others haven’t.

Do people seriously think the lockdown hasn’t prevented deaths from the virus or are lads just being deliberately edgy on here? It’s hard to tell

Haven’t got the result yet but should expect it shortly. Done via blood test. These are the lab-based systems with a high sensitivity/specificity, approved in UK etc and are only being rolled out at the moment in Ireland (and the rest of the world)

One poster actually thought the death rate would have been lower in the UK if they hadn’t changed from the herd immunity approach to the lockdown.

The seasonal flu has killed many many multiples of people compared to covid deaths over the years. It remains to be seen what the death toll from covid 19 will be going forward. TB meanwhile is top of the food chain as regards global deaths every year. And we have vaccines and a cure for that. Go figure!

Whatever about rugby, the horse racing popularity is down to one lad having 25 user names and then talking to himself.

It’s been around longer so it did have a bit of a head start.

The virus has been tracked since January, so say 5 months and there are in excess of 300k deaths, in 5 months, despite the majority of the globe being restricted in their movement.

A bad flu season for 2018-2019 is outlined here

Big difference

The US is already up on 90k+ deaths
