Coronavirus - Close the Airports

We haven’t issued restrictions on a single nation, at any stage, of this crisis. There has been no change, whatsoever to the running of our border, aside from the necessity to fill out a form.

Wtf?

How dare you victim blame people on :biking_man:

You’re no better than the horsey set.

If you can’t see how people circulating in airports, on planes, buses and taxis etc does not severely increase the chances of the virus spreading then you are incredibly stupid.

International travel needs to sidelined for the year. Restricting movement will suppress the virus spread, we’ve got the virus to a low base on this island now, let’s not risk that for the needs of the affluent, the aspirational and the aviation billionaires.

Totally agree mate. Can get things back to normal here for rest of the year and start afresh next year.

You’d be much safer in Spain … Sunshine and all bars and cafés can operate outside where bizarrely the virus doesn’t transmit at all… We’re locking people in doors where it is highly transmissible… The weather is shite but we need to learn to operate outdoors more when it comes to bars and cafes in particular.

Agreed. Close the airports, everyone needs to take a bit of pain to get through this, the airline sector no more than any. They creamed it for decades though, and they’ll get through. Others wont be so lucky, but thats life. The greater good is all that matters here. Shut it down. We’re lucky to live in such a country, we don’t need to go anywhere. Lock it down.

The under the bed crew haven’t gone away you know…

Exactly it.

Now the virus is at a position that allows us to get some things back to normal. Let’s appreciate that and take the necessary precautions to protect the vulnerable. It’s going to be pretty basic for the rest of the year but it’s good to just have that

We’re in a great place now. Lets maintain what we have. Lock down the airports and the ports.

Some of us realise what’s important.

Others still only care about putting a few photos up on Facebook about eating out at a foreign cafe.

Shur look it, you’ll have that. Twould be a boring place if we were all the same. We just need people to try at least put the greater good ahead of their own selfish wants and desires.

Definetely, 1 year won’t kill them to holiday in ireland but unfortunately doesn’t cut the mustard on Instagram and Facebook.

This masks thing is being well over played and it’s importance especially in Supermarkets. Very very few grocery staff have contracted the virus from their work place, even when the ting was rampant. Public transport I agree with but out doing your grocery shop I think you just need to apply your own common sense

I’d agree. Masks are probably only really of benefit when you’re static in a confined space with other people for a reasonable period of time.

Every supermarket worker in Ireland should be killed by now, so do masks really work

Staff in the major retailers were all given masks and given the option to wear them, very few are wearing them as they have all gone thru the worst of this thing.

No cases recorded among staff in our local Dunnes… it must be some sort of miracle. But then, they’re not 80+ with compromised immunities so that might explain it.

“We’re in a great place now”

Would you say that to the Aer Lingus workers about to be laid off?
