If RTE would leave him alone for five minutes he might

Luke is a bit of an eejit but an alright sort

You won’t hear anything about this on rte

There was no edit, you might have read it wrong. All I said is that in principle your initial post is not necessarily correct.

The headcases from Zero Covid Ireland are underneath saying it won’t be enough and we will need restrictions for all of 2021 unless we go for elimination.

agreed

Exactly. If interest is zero, then it’s free money.

I’m going to out on a limb and say I’ll be sipping pints in Ryan’s watching the Borrisileigh vs Ballygunner Munster Club Final by Easter Weekend.

Fair enough, mate.

I really hope you’re right

Luke is considered the top scientist in the world recently enough. Something about his work being cited my more scientists than any other, he’s top notch.

in fairness, there was a slight risk people might have had a mildly positive thought for a minute

My gripe with him and its not a major one is how well he has done out of this whole thing. He is definitely making hay on the media circuit for one and I know he has had a “breakthrough” recently in Trinity as well in one of their labs.

He’s on the national media every day etc, and hasnt really delivered anything groundbreaking from the few times I’ve listened to him.

Saying that, good luck to him.

They need to beat their drum whenever they can, they are desperate to run their experiment here.

In fairness, that age group will only impact on ICUs by 40% but similar % benefits should start to be seen once the 60 or so age bracket and at risk younger people are vaccinated in the month following.

Until you roll it over, when it may not be free

Maybe try reading some of his scientific articles, his peers think they’re groundbreaking.

He is certainly not as bad as McDonkey or that covid restriction breaker Neil Ferguson from Imperial college.

More importantly, do you really believe our current inflation pattern is only temporary?

Personally I can’t see how the ECB will do anything other than make their interest rate go even more negative in the short to medium term.

It’s good that O’Neill has the highest profile as he does try to bring a bit of optimism, as opposed to some of the other dour academics
