Coronavirus - the deadly virus that no one dies from

keep the pubs closed

That will be a game changer. You’ll have your negative test 15 minutes after you land and you can self isolate then for 14 days safe in the knowledge that you won’t get sick.

Unreal. If that works and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg it’s all over.

Is it administered by a medical professional or DIY?

40 million a month- there’s 800 million people in Europe alone — the curtain twitchers will be stockpiling or buying one every 14 days -you’ll never get your hands on one.

@mikehunt will be doing two a day just to be sure.

The antigen test will be used in point-of-care settings for both asymptomatic and symptomatic patients, the company said. It added that the test typically yields results in about 15 minutes.

Roche called the test “affordable,” but did not disclose pricing details. It does not depend on technical lab equipment, the company said, which means it can be used in settings where rapid and large-scale testing may be needed.

Watching back the tonight show here. De Gascun says hospitals are at 95% capacity at the moment or something very similar. In spite of the fact there’s a very small number there due to covid. So what have the hospitals been doing over the last 6 months? Surely increasing capacity was top of their priorities. So we are now in a situation where as usual the hospitals are going to be jammed over the winter months. Even if there’s only a small increase in hospitaisations due to covid. A lockdown would stop the spread of flu, covid and so on and somewhat mitigate this scenario. Is this what all the scaremongering is about?

They aren’t, this is spinning the numbers by them. “Capacity” is a moving feast when it comes to Irish hospitals.

Hospitals are always full to capacity. That’s why we have all the people on trolleys. There aren’t enough beds and never have been and for the foreseeable future, never will be

Ah mate have you never heard of summer holidays?

FFG have made a mess of the health system for decades so it can’t cope with anything.

Presumably social distancing, good hand hygiene, masks and fellas not slobbering all over each other in wet pubs will mean we won’t have a flu season this year?

What is the 437 available was 501 during the “height” pandemic. That excluded surge capacity of an additional 311 beds that could bring up 812 beds. The 437 bizarrely changes regularly too.

The “staffed” is what they usually take everyday as their capacity, and this changes everyday.

The 41 available is taken from God knows where. A little * and talking about dynamic is where we’re at.

In truth, I imagine the hospitals are full of fiefdoms and shit daily reporting and mediocre bed management, so the numbers never make sense. It is in the interest of the Trade Unions and HSE to talk about how bad things are for Morning Ireland and Newstalk Breakfast. When they have to get their asses in gear (like during the Covid height), things seem to run an awful lot smoother. Remember the outrage that St James Hospital we’re trying to incentivise staff to get beds freed up quicker? People who were told they could be discharged hours ago left twiddling their thumbs whilst they various pieces of bureaucracy get their house in order.

The swab tests the HSE were using when this started (and maybe still are) were 70 per cent accurate.

Australia flu deaths fell from 480 in 2019 to under 50 this year.

If NPHET hear that they’ll hibernate us every winter
