Coronavirus thread - 19/10/2020 - The Day Ireland Died

Some lad in Roscommon, criminal charges you would hope, crazy carry on. Publican went for a Covid Test last Saturday,
Decided to open his pub on Sat night anyway for 18th & 30th Birthday parties, there was close to 150 in attendance @Pub, Pub owners test came back positive:exclamation:, so now everyone who was in pub & their close contacts / families have to be tested :exclamation:

Any truth to this one doing the rounds @anon67715551?

this is piss poor propaganda in fairness to try to quantify the impact their “messages” had.
Bottom line, a few people (<20?) had a cold, none of them were remotely ill, it passed , now they are better, end of story.
Good to see today that the discussion (and it shouldnt be that as we are talking about numbers) around the FACT that this thing has tiny mortality ( 0.13% ) and hospitilisation ( <2.5%) rates nationally is becoming more mainstream.

This is a boutique type of flu in that it is only of concern to a very certain, vulnerable subset of the population, who btw are at risk to any seasonal influenza, we are referring to those of course in nursing homes.
The fact that isolating these people in secure environments is not at the top of this country’s priority list is a crime, instead the nonsensical theory of " lockdowns" is been used as a bluster.

basic rule, control the controllables, that is creating a secure environment for those vulnerable, we ( the state ) can do that. This absolute virus supression nonsense has had 6 months of data to show it is non value added and its impact is far greater than its benefit that has never been assessed but all eveidence would suggest is neglible

The relatively low numbers in Kerry is a bit miraculous considering the large amount of tourists they get, both domestic and foreign.

Sligo have very few cases also. There should be some carrot for counties with low rates.

Fuck me but the gross irresponsibility of the Irish media is baffling.

It’s nonsense. Gibberish. Lads with no symptoms stacking up. Lads with symptoms who test negative.

Beaumont Hospital in Dublin is on “full war alert” over its Covid-19 situation as asymptomatic cases begin to stack up.

“Everything has been ramped up in the past two weeks,” Professor Bill Tormey, a specialist in chemical pathology at the hospital, said.

“They’re on full war alert. There’s a lot of Covid about the place and everyone is in full protective gear.”

Beaumont has had four wards closed due to outbreaks of the coronavirus in just two weeks. One of those wards, a cardiology unit, remains closed and is due to reopen on Friday.

Following the outbreak in the coronary care unit which resulted in that closure, a full screening of all staff was ordered, along with testing of so-called “98” patients - those with clear Covid symptoms who have nevertheless tested negative.

Haven’t left the house all day so consequently have heard Nada. Hopefully its not Gene Anderson in the Thatch, he’s sound. Some hungry fuckers out there.

Maybe handwashing isn’t so important after all?

Your nastiness is always a slight surprise to me. I’m not sure why really but it’s a little disturbing.

Carlow ones?

You’re not special.

It was a disturbing insight
