I’ll indulge you. Truck drivers in Ireland are mainly Eastern European (though I’ve seen a lot of South Africans recently too). Truck drivers get old and retire, get sick, get sick of it, haulage companies expand. All of that requires new drivers. It also takes two or three drivers to complete very long journeys. One driver might fly ahead to meet the truck. If I had to quantify it I’d say there’s dozens of them a day.

Seamen are rarer. Less than 10 a day. Same logic. Replacing existing seamen. Change of crew.

So you’re complaining they’re not being tested and have free movement?

I don’t get what you’re complaining about so - because the jist of your argument seems to be that you want freer movement. That movement seems pretty free as it is.

Who commutes by plane to work at the airport? I’ve worked at the airport and I never came across anybody who did that.

I don’t believe I did. I set out very clear reasons why the measure as we apply it is pointless, stupid, and unfair.

For a guy who likes to judge other peoples “arguments” and expound at length on things you haven’t engaged with any of those points or reasons. I’ve also set out how a version of MHQ, as applied elsewhere, could be useful. Your response has been to call some fairly reasonable posts “bitching”. Another top notch “argument” from you there. Your sole “argument” for MHQ appears to be that sure it’s not perfect but it’s better than nothing. Now that’s doing the ostrich. It’s also not an argument.

No I’m not complaining about that. As you well know my argument is and remains that if they are coming in anyway, variants will follow regardless. I see no point in halting travel whilst such huge numbers come in regardless

As far as I can see the only reason you’re against MHQ is because you live abroad and don’t want to have to quarantine if you travel back to Ireland.

But that’s the old all or nothing argument. That because there are holes in the floodgates, we should just open them entirely. I honestly can’t get my head around that argument.

He commutes as often as he can. Much less these days.

It was a lot more common in the airport but only a fraction of the people that worked there still do.

I know it can vary by state but are the US more or less back to normal now or are there still restrictions in place regarding masks, social distancing and indoor capacities?
