Short answer is we donât know. Itâs true in some viruses/diseases and not in others, the evolutionary goal is to become more transmissible which doesnât necessarily translate to less virulent. The mortality rate of Covid isnât very high so killing off hosts isnât really an issue, and the spread before symptoms means itâs very well adapted to spreading already.
