Apologies for the delay Sid. Iād a load on last night. This is a great post. It sets out clearly all the things you reckon should be done and thereās merit to all of them. The good thing is I suppose a few of them are already being done.
Some of it is unworkable I fear. The logistics of setting up free testing centres in every single town to roll out tests all day every day are mind boggling but technically doable if done through pharmacies or local doctors. Iād see that facing huge opposition from pharmacists and doctors.
Edit Obviously antigen is possible but again presumably under supervision, which is the same issue.
Mandatory vaccines are a big no no. I just canāt see it. Forced vaccination wonāt work. People do have rights and thatās pretty much it.
Boosters are great. Boosters for everyone who wants them please, obviously starting with health workers and the most vulnerable. Canāt see who would argue with that.
We had contract tracing in schools. It was unworkable for primary. Schools ended up doing their own tracing and kids missed buckets of school. Advice was completely different depending on who you got. Secondary schools have been going on pretty well with their current vaccinated and masked status although students have had their shittest years ever.
I would heavily oppose kids going back online for learning. It is horrendous for all but the most driven, engaged kids. As there is a tiny tiny possibility of serious illness for kids, Iād say the ills of online learning are much worse. I would be happy to have younger kids vaccinated and I have 2 of them, subject to it being tested obviously.
The big issues with all the above are finance and compliance. Not enough of either. The money now seems to be finite. The pup was lowered again today. People will always push for a bit more freedom. After nearly 2 years everyone is pissednoff and tired and taking more risks. The real world is a big grey are so the spread will always continue. We just have to try to control as best we can and treat those who get bad doses. Shutting down life is not really an option anymore.
Set up covid hospitals like we said at the start. Increase capacity and separate it from the mainstream health service so we can try to function. It would mean a fuckload of extra nurses etc but why not?
Fair play mate. After all that hard work it was a fair reward you got to dedicate years 4-9 to the early irish history of hobby sports and genealogy in the west of Ireland.
I didnāt say anything about being an expert on mRNA budā¦ You can apologize when youāre ready. But thanks for highlighting that again, I was correct in my assertion.
The phrase āits not an exact scienceā covers a multitude of sins from the expertsā¦superstitions like lockdowns, rituals like handwashing, tokens like mask wearing etc
