Do Ur own reserch m8

DYOR.

They work for a while, for most people. 3-4 months before they start to wear off, and 6 months mostly gone. Get your booster.

I know kid… They’re not the saviour but they help. How close are we to developing something that does kill off coronavirues completely? I remember reading last year that some crowd had developed a vaccine a few years back but there was no funding available for it at the time. I imagine all the money in the world is being offered now

Unless they kill you. In which case they don’t help.

It’s desperate that anti vaxxers post with glee the details of a person who died from complications after being vaccinated. And it seems to be the same case over and over again. A bit short on examples but full of glee.

The antivirals look promising, especially the one made in Cork, but we’ll have to see how well they work in the real world. There should be vaccines early next year that target the Delta variant, but I’d say little hope that we can “kill off coronaviruses completely”. They are persistent little fuckers and getting more common, it’s likely SARS3 is waiting to pounce.

There also needs to be a change in the supply chain. Half of the medicine undergraduates in the country are fee paying international students. Not much incentive for them to stick around once qualified.

I’m just pointing out that vaccines can kill too.

Generally the only people vaccines serve as a benefit too are over 60s and those with health problems. For everyone else it’s pretty much of negligible benefit which is even more so on a sliding basis relative to age.

Most vaccines are harmful or have side effects for some individuals unfortunately. They’re designed to save the 99%… there’s over 7 billion people on the planet ffs… These tin foil wearing nuts think scientists are magicians.

Are there practicing doctors and nurses going around unvaccinated, you’ll have to pardon my ignorance again?

I have massive respect for nurses but I wouldn’t want d add one body like that in a room with a sick elderly relative, my God that’s incredible, are they really out there and turning up for work on hospitals?
Really now, no hypotheticals

So they do nothing for covid (mortality rate of 1% )

I don’t think anybody ever denied that side-effects, sometimes fatal, can happen. You take particular delight in that young woman’s death. It’s not the first time you’ve posted about her.

the benefits may be lower but not negligible for those individuals and are definitely not negligible for the wider community.

I never said otherwise. What worries me is the glee that this young woman’s death has been greeted with.

Have we let covid rip through the country without distancing, lockdowns, masks and so on to test that 1%?.. A lovely little post from you all the same :grinning:

Could it be possible that Covid is only a cod?

An auld flu?

I cant believe no one has considered this before…

I don’t take any delight. I just had to point that many vaccine fascists like to pedal misinformation on the vaccine and it’s important to note that the vaccine is of negligible benefit to people who are young, fit and healthy.
