Erdogan is the fucking nutcase here lads. He’s got some backing here from hardliners nut jobs but I’m hoping the coup wins out. They’re the Hutches to his Kinahan.
Some guy on Al Jazeera speculating that the coup was a FAKE one staged by Erdogan in order to assert his military authority further.
That would be James Bond Villain level of genius.

This looks like a poorly executed and ill-judged attempt. Bar the element of surprise and a few units of the military they don’t seem to have had much else.
These coups are as much a media battle as a military battle and it looks like Erdogan won that porition of it hands down. None of his main political opponents came out in favour of the coup either which may give truth to Erdogans claim that it was being orchestrated by Gulen supporters.
Interesting few hours regardless and confirms without doubt that the Turks are fucking nuts. We can expect a big show of strength from Erdogan in the coming weeks too.
