Coursing 2010/11 - The Road to Clonmel

Congrats HangBlaa, delighted for you. Roll on Clonmel ehā€¦

In other news arounf the country, I see Harry Findlay bred the DTS winner in Mallow, and thereā€™s another qualifier out of this yearā€™s Ballyorgan litter in Abbeydorney.

Are you online via your phone?

Youā€™re not coming up on the IM thing, i seek your counsel on somethingā€¦

Ladsā€¦ Cheers for the best wishes.

The feeling is something else, and a first for me. The dog was superā€¦ He only got two clean courses, but fought hard in every one of the five buckles, no more so than the final. From beside the slippers hut, my view was poor but I am told it was the buckle of the day, and he showed some serious gears to get up the hill, and get in front. Think it was a length in the end.

Dog was in super form last night, fresh as a daisy, and was not happy he wasnt getting galloped with the others this morning.

Its unreal to be planning for clonmel at this stageā€¦ have to pinch myself, a lot.

Ah this is unreal news, I think itā€™s fair to say that the TFKCSC will be voted club of the year on TFK after this. Epic scenes. Amid these great days we must not forget the stalwart working members like Dunph and MAD who have kept this thread alive in the dark days when we werenā€™t even winning duffers.

I canā€™t fuckin wait for the banter in the on course bookies post racing on the Tuesday

Great stuff, tough looking dog, and looks well suited to Powerstown. Will ye bring him out again before Clonmel? I see ye are headed for Charleville this weekend aswell, I wonā€™t make it myself due to a wedding but will be keeping up to date with proceedings through my molesā€¦

Will you be in attendance Friday night?

Alas no, this Dundalk nonsense on a Friday night is breaking my heart.

Ah this is very disappointing

Yeah, Charleville and Thurles this weekend. I am taking Thurles, where we have a small shout, with a bitch that is has turned inside out after he bit of hunt and first sli pin the regional. Charleville is a very young dog, with not a lot done, even if he did somehow manage to win a couple of rounds he wont be going back on Sunday.

As for plans for our star, well there are none yetā€¦ There are a few options, but we will give him a rest for a couple of weeks now, and then sit down and have a cut at a plan of action.

@ MAD, did you see the final buckle. I only saw them as far as the end of the wire and they were both hunting savage hard, and we were prob a neck down coming out of the wire, from my viewpoint.

I didnt get a chance to stop and talk to you, i was a bit all over the place when you offered your congratulationsā€¦

I saw it alright, twas a close buckle but I thought your lad was always in control, he looks a jealous type who kept pulling out a bit more when required. The hill was no bother to him. I watched the two semis from up near the clock men and I thought Houdini was more impressive to the eye, Murtys didnā€™t look to have as fluid a stride so I was surprised to hear there was nothing in it in the clocks.

Weā€™ll catch up at some other point over the coming weeks Iā€™m sure!

Yeah, in the semi, the hare broke left and he lost sight and stopped galloping for about 40 yards just coming out of the wireā€¦ So that probably cost him a few lengths, prob wasnt obvious from the side but he was about 5 yards offline for a while, but as soon as he saw the hare again he seemed to move up a gear.

Murtyā€™s is only a June pup, and is fairly big, so should impove, but looking at him up close, there wasnt an ounce left him, he was fit as a flea.

I actually remarked the same when he passed me. Would there be much left in your lad do you think?

Hopefully there should be okā€¦ time will tell.

I just want to give another round of applause to HangBlaa because this is great news for TFKCSC.

SS**, itā€™s a shame you wonā€™t be at Limerick on Friday night. You rolled out the carpet for me in Shelbourne for the Derby and i was hoping to return the favour when you came to the new HQā€¦

Itā€™s heartbreaking Dunph, itā€™s like waiting until the New Year to open your Christmas presents, Iā€™m still waiting to visit the greatest greyhound stadium in the world.

Big weekend for coursingā€¦ the jewel in the ICC crown are holding there AGM in Clems / MeccaII tonight. While on the field things are hectic.

We have coursing meeting coming at us thick and fast. Charleville, Gorey, Miltown-Malbay, Thurles go tomorrow and Sunday, while Castleisland & Waterford go Sunday and Monday.

I will be in Thurels tomrrow, and it looks like middling enough fair in the All Ages. Actually they are downright poor. Some well bred types in teh TSā€™s ok, but expect a few withdrawla after the lack of rain this week. I will go to slips though as I have a small bitch that would gallop in a carpark, but anything over 85lbs would want to stay at home.

Onto Charleville and its more of the same, but there will be los of eyes on the cup for the return to slips of Soundmanpaddy, a favourite of this forum, who if back to his best can rattel this cup.

Miltown Malbay is again more of the same in terms of all age, with the exception of Kyle Basil in the cup. He might get a fright agains Beyond Gaisce, but should win this one doing handstands if all truth be told.

Blueview Pines, is fancied to take teh allage honours in Gorey after his mega impressive effort in New Ross. Wallace Rock might put it up to him though.

However, the event of this weekend is the Island Cup in Castleisland. Chubbys Gold, Cryptic Rebel, Begorrah, Chelsea Speed, Wilton Herald, Silent turbo, Oilean Fantasy and Gally Bridge will all fancy itā€¦ It is the best 16 cup i have seen for a long long time. But i will give the nod to Wilton Herald.

Chelsea Speed took the cup home from Castleisland, but it was not talk of Chelsea Speed that has been doninating coursing talk since. It is of the wonder bitch Gadget Girl, who won the Oaks as followsā€¦ long lead - 6 lenghts - 6 lenghts - 7 lenghts - 8 lenghts. It doesnt end there. Monday mornings clocks in the Island Cup.

CRYPTIC REBEL bt CHUBBYS GOLD 837
PREVELENCE bt BALLYMAC TORY 828
CHELSEA SPEED bt FORMCRIOR WALLY 839
SILENT TURBO bt COOLCASTLE JET 836
Gadget Girl 841

Semi-final clocksā€¦
CRYPTIC REBEL bye PREVELENCE 825
CHELSEA SPEED bt SILENT TURBO 829
Gadget Girl 830

Final Clocks
CRYPTIC REBEL bt CHELSEA SPEED 839
Gadget Girl 838

The best efforts in what was a good derby trialstakeā€¦ no dog got into the 830-839 bracket.

Lads, we have a live one for the oaks alright, bred out of Tango Time, by Razor Ashmore and trained in Newry by Brendan Matthews, this is what all the bitches have to aim at.

Tango Time, a trail stake winner in Old Kilcullen four years ago, is the dam of last years top litter by Bexhill Eoin. That litter produced Wilton Herald (monday morning derby fav), Needham Time (withdrawn for the Oaks final as fav), and trial stake winners, City Deal, City Terminator, as well as all age prospect for this season Needham Tango.
