It’s not a tip or anything like that Mac, you’re not missing out on much…
It meant alot to me mate.
Don’t mention it…
Good man Dunph, cheers for that!
Glin will be a complete washout after last night , the field is floating this morning , I hope to have a pic later to confirm.
How are they getting on in Glin? Surely MAD and/or RTT will be there at some stage this weekend, the Runt too.
Regarding Doon in December, will we be meeting at the Round Tower pub on the Saturday or Sunday? As stated before i am eager enough to get to SPK on the Saturday night after coursing for the mouth-watering ‘Night of Champions’ festivities. Will likely go up and down in the same night mind to make coursing on the Sunday morning…
MAD was there today. I’ll be heading Sunday with RTT.
I’d advise those with top bitches to make their bookings with Ireland’s hottest young sire ASAP. He already has a bitch through to Sunday in the oaks
Has she a bye in the morning and afternoon tomorrow?
Anyone read mobrien’s piece on the all age bitch at Glin? It was top class!

It’s the local oaks
Can someone post up the results of the duffers in Glin lads? I see the entries were sprinkled with Soundmanpaddy progeny. We all know the Glin Derby is a noted nursery for Derby winners over the years.
Local Derby
Winner - Trafford Way - Murtys Gang ex Tipsy Woman (bye in the final)
Runner up - Another Ask -Razor Ashmore ex A big Ask
Local Oaks
Winner - Solid Pricewise Bar Time ex Tobitl
Runner Up - Joby’s Spirit Razor Ashmore ex Floating Spirit
Doyaboss was the furthest progressing of the SMP’s. She got into the quarter (but had a bye course in the 2nd round).
Should come for the experience and I believe will be given another shot in a trial stake in a few weeks.
The others were disappointing.
Not long to Doon coursing now, chaps.
Was in Doon today and yesterday, twas fierce cold and pissy. The hares were the worst i’ve ever seen! At one stage yesterday a hare ran out under a load of spectators and under Dinny Goulds jeep. There was a load of people around trying to frighten him out. Another hare today got out under specators and ran straight out the gate and up the road! Two dogs got a woeful gruelling as bad i’ve ever seen in the semi-finals of i think it was the Oaks. The hare ran across the front of the escape about three times refusing to go in, was in both corners and ended up running back up the field again and then out to the spectators. Some amount of hares maimed as well.
That sounds like proper coursing. None of this straight up the field and into the blind with no, or just the one, turn shite that passes for coursing.
These lads know how to do coursing properly…

Love the Iberian horses too… pure class…
Looks like they’ve four judges on the top video there. Two of em were obviously blind as it looked like two didn’t pull the white flag. White had to get that, missed the first turn but was in for a hell of alot of turns after that and was always on the hare.
Three judges, two called it for white, one fella called it a tie.
I would have scored it 8-5 to white, but the last turn is hard to call from the camera angle, if red made that turn then he wins it.
Good coursing.
Anything where the dogs don’t work the hare can’t call itself coursing, it’s a match race sprint/glorified lure coursing… you would accomplish the same thing with a plastic bag attached to a string, no need to be stressing out live hares.
Agreed, it’s a foot race these days.
The hares in doon yesterday were like fellas staggering out of a pub at 3 in the morning. The old fella beside me who was about 20 stone would have caught some of them.On another note fare play to the winners of the derby , only a reserve dog in but after winning the stake hel only be a reserve for clonmel.I hope he qualifies elsewhere.
Hey!
