Well that’s the Oaks done and dusted anyway. Camarillo Blonde it is.
Super couple of days coursing just completed in abbeyfeale, Tilford Dream announced himself as a Derby contender, JBM booked his place in the Derby line up in Clonmel and Bridewell Kieran secured a champion stakes slot and managed to deny one to Kyle King in the process.
Ah that’s marvellous news, JBM is a well known friend of the forum and all round all right sort.
The man was off the hook with excitement and delight in the aftermath. Nice touch by the connections of Tilford Tom to stand drink to all in the clinic after coursing also.
You fancy this one?
Where would a lad find lodgings in clonmel at this late stage? Everything looks booked out.
Couldn’t tell you, i go to the same place every year. The likes of MAD or RTT would have a better idea as think they have booked places last minute before. Is there a Park hotel in Clonmel? You could try that. Could be trickier this year with it being on a weekend, be prepared to pay a few quid.
All hotels fully booked for Friday and Saturday. Have to be back for work Monday so wouldn’t be able to stay Sunday night.
I can’t warm to this weekend carry-on at all. Then the final day on a Monday? Wtf? Surely if they were going to do it twas Fri/Sat/Sun they should have done? Jesus the long week after it is going to be painful. They’ve made a right bollix of a great week.
Pity you made that big stand last year saying you would boycott it this year on account of the weekend change and we won’t see any of you in short odds/Mulcahys/in the bar by Ladbrokes come February…
Try Kearney’s Castle in Cashel Mac.
Not sure I quite said that. Certainly won’t be going down the night before like I’ve always done previously. Is there even a call over this year? You do know they’ll be charging into Hearn’s nightclub on Saturday night now and the likelyhood of getting a wheel brace across the head while drinking after coursing has increased markedly because of this move?
Must be time to ask the question of who is going at this stage. Looking forward to it immensely, coming home in two weeks time. Any sign of Hangblaa??
Unfortunately it’s looking like the very best I’ll manage is the Sunday and have to drive home again that evening. Two years in a row a project that was delayed for months ends up being scheduled for during the week of Clonmel. I’m disgusted.
Not going to make it this year.
I will also be unable to fulfill my duties at Clonmel this year. At this rate I fear losing my badge as TFKCSC Junior Vice President and Hall of Fame inductee.
Madness.
This time next week i will be in the Hotel Minella slugging back pints of Guinness and enjoying the callover with my pal Garavan Shamrock. Hopefully some or all of the TFKCSC too. Yup out that.
No callover for me this year. Shame it’s not on the Sunday as could have stayed on for the Superbowl after. Planning on rolling into Clonmel for 9am Saturday morning. I wonder will many bookmakers stay away with racing in Fairyhouse and Punchestown over the weekend. Interesting to see does it work out.
I suppose John Field will win the Derby, if he’s allowed…
If you are down there nice and early Saturday morning with your stick of chalk i would be much obliged if you could save two boxes for me while i am in bed sleeping off pints.
