Crazy Dublin Rents and House Prices

The city is like you took the best bits of Dublin, wrapped them around a beautiful, clean river, and placed it down in the middle of the country.

Why wont you answer my question? Because it exposes your bias?

Such a googler though. Yeah busloads of tourists go to the national aquatic centre, not just skangers from blanch up using the gym. Some survey. They survey in no way challenges what i have said, in fact it reinforces it. Dublin is a landing point for tourists to visit all over the country.

It isnā€™t a ā€œbizarre claimā€. It is factual.

I give it to give you some context on Dublinā€™s size and relative to other countries. Much like your airport gibberish, you made it up, with no evidence.

Dublin is an Alpha - city. That puts it in the top 55 cities in the world. Iā€™m very happy with that.

I think our architecture is quite good and stands up to a lot of the rest of Europe. I never said we were Paris, I simply pointed out that bringing up West Dublin is rather pointless in this discussion and shows a familiarity bias.

My issues with Dublin are primarily sprawl and public transport related. I never said Dublin was near perfect or exactly what I want, nor would I say it is my favourite city. Every city has issues though.

Re @Tim_Riggins list there ā€¦ Limerick has Irelandā€™s largest stone circle ā€¦ our own stonehenge ā€¦ and do you think weā€™d advertise it at all? - A travesty that Lough Gur in general is not on that list and that it cant attract over 150k touristsā€¦ farcical. - The Medieval town of Kilmallock (@balbec) up the road and the Home of JFK in between both ā€¦ fuck off Limerick, you gowls.

No you said some parts of it were fantastic. I said it was average. I think my classification is closer to the truth.

I donā€™t see any questions here, just more fact free and chip on your shoulder posting.

The fifth (5th) time asking the question tim now pretends he canā€™t see.

A tourist is given a choice, visit dublin, or visit the wild Atlantic way. Which do you think they would choose?

On a whole it is average, but parts are fantastic. It really isnā€™t that difficult.

College Green, Trinity College, St Stephens Green, Grafton Street, Merrion Square, Dawsonā€™s Street - those are the kinds of places any city would love to have.

Is it Paris? Of course not, but not many cities are.

Iā€™d take my chances with the Mid-Atlantic ocean to be honest

The book of kells is fantastic. (why isnā€™t it in kells?) the other places you list are just average im afraid.

Give us a bit more background to this tourist Maroony. Old/young? Rich/poor? Are they here for craic and women or trying to find themselves in a voyage of self discovery? What about backstory - any previous links to Ireland. Finally, were they forced to fly into Dublin airport against their will or did they somehow manage to bribe someone to slip them into the country some other way.

We have facts for that, the answer is Dublin.

Given your previous assertion that they land at Dublin and drive west a couple of hours, this is a pickle for you in response.

I donā€™t think I ever ran down the Wild Atlantic Way though did I? Tourists want different things. Itā€™s a bit of a pointless comparison- a more apt comparison is to other European cities of a similar size and a similar tier. In that respect, Dublin holds up very well.

Outside of tourism, Dublin does very very well on international metrics.

Those Iā€™m afraid are just the facts, your anecdotes are good though.

@maroonandwhite 11/03/2012 - You should move to Lucan, Kev. As far as suburbs in mid-sized cities go you wonā€™t get finer. Itā€™s a gateway to both Dublin city centre and Celbridge.

@maroonandwhite 03/05/2019 - Dublin is a total kip. Some of the suburbs in the west of the city are grim beyond belief.

The book of Kells is the 9th centuryā€™s Ulysses.

And you still refuse to give an answer you coward.

Yes, dublin airport, centralization, the small size of ireland, ive answered this already.

Dublin isnā€™t the worst, good vibe to stroll around the Southside city area of a nice evening, but at the same time its unremarkable and youd struggle to think of anything really good to tell a tourist to do bar going drinking.
