Crazy Dublin Rents and House Prices

Agreed, as the fella says.

Iā€™d be afraid id fall off the side of the bed.

Youā€™d be smashing the lights out if you got the ride in that bed

How do you get up on the bed I wonder?

They can stick that one where the sun donā€™t shine (but where a 40W bulb does). :bulb:

It mentions a ladder in the ad but I donā€™t see one in the pictures. Might be one of those foldaway step ladders from Lidl

ā€œBring your own ladderā€.

*Ladder sold separately

I lived in some desperate kips when I lived in flatland and viewed some even worse ones. I suppose we just didnā€™t have the social media in those days to let everyone know how poor the conditions were.

I lived in some right kips in Dublin, but in the good old days at least the kips were cheap

By God they were not. Myself and three other lads paid 21 POUNDS a week each to live in a cockroach infested flat (I had never seen a cockroach before - we think the family came in in a bag from the Pearl River). So that Landlord was trousering 350 POUNDS a month. At the time I was getting paid 7,000 POUNDS a year to do an artfoley type job.

You do the math.

How much did you pay for your house?

Which one?

Iā€™ve done the math. Ā£1,098 a year or 21 x 52 so 15.6% of your overall salary. For someone on ā‚¬45k a year that would be the equivalent of ā‚¬585 a month currently. You wouldnā€™t get a shed for it.
Average renter in Dublin is paying 55% of their take home in rent. That was a 2017 figure itā€™s only gone up.
Assuming you were paying a flat 50% in tax on your salary, which you werenā€™t, then your equivalent rent would have been Ā£1,925 or double what you were paying more or less.
And Iā€™m being generous to you.

I didnā€™t know we were sending delegates to the European coal and steel community back then.

Sorry buddy but Iā€™ve no idea why youā€™re constantly following me around the place. Itā€™s not as if youā€™re a big hitter around here, more a secondary character like Kirk van houten and just as needy.
