5 mins to introduce character
5 mins to have him kidnapped
5 mins to show him at first plantation
5 mins to have him transported to fassbender’s plantation
5 mins to show struggles with Fassbender
5 min to show his salvation and reunion with family
12 years a slave is a good film. Bar the Brad Pitt preachy bit, I thought it captured the horrors of slavery well. The every day mundane existence (if you can call hard labour that) yet hinged on the threat of violence exploding at any minute. It also tried to show the mechanisms in place that stopped a black majority from revolting- and the total despair in being separated from family as so many were. It’s a slow burner but the story isn’t about him getting out of it- It was the portrayal of the everyday life of a slave… But Transformer fans like @Mac want all flash and thunder.
Was it Farmer or Clarkeycat that complained about there being a scene in Hunger which showed the Warder sweeping piss off the floor for being self indulgent and too long winded
The acting was brutal. Sickening what passes off the days. Fasbender was out of his depth. Pitt snailing in at the end as the hero type. It was shit and a major disappointment.
