Cunts on Ghost Bikes

What kind of “engineers”? What exactly has that to do with anything.

Some civil some mechanical.

Train drivers.

just about ti take my fixie for a spin - sunny but not too hot at the moment thank christ

Thanks Fagan but I had already answered.

Saw a cyclist with one of those children carriers on the front of their bikes, weaving through traffic today. Ridiculously dangerous carryon from the cunt. I’ve always found these things baffling, they appear to have little or no protection for the child and I doubt they would have any chance of coming out of a collision intact should one happen.

Just take a break from posting today.

Unlikely mate. I tell you what, I’ll only post under one username for the rest of the day, will that do?

Was there any kids in the front of it?

Just the one.

Calling @Mac, @balbec, @tallback and @ any other cyclists on the board. I intend to take advantage of the cycle to work scheme and get a new bike. Seems like a good opportunity to buy a decent racer which I’d hope to get use out of for a triathlon in the future. On the other hand, is a racer alright for cycling to work? Might I be better buying buying a single speed or something for cycling to work at the same time?

Thoughts on this and any further detail on types of bike please.

If you are going to rack up decent winter mileage, a single speed is without doubt the most sensible commuting option. I have two pieces of bike porn under the stairs, but do all my commuting on a single speed. I used get through a chain set every winter before this at about 400 quid a pop. I have a kona paddy wagon at present with schwalbe marathon plus tyres. Any half decent steel frame single speed would be grand. Look at “on one” maybe from Planet X. I would go straight for marathon plus tyres and not fuck about. I reckon on doing about ten thousand miles before I get a puncture, and I cycle through some rough enough spots.

Spend the money on a good bike. Then get a cheaper run around to get in and out of work. Will where you’re working being secure? The amount of bikes being nicked is scary at times so no point getting something good if you can’t keep it secure. All depends on how long your commute will be too.

@Thrawneen picked up a decent bike last year I think. I only have a racer for weekends at the moment. A Dolan frame, Shimano groupset, mavic wheels and continental Ksyrium tyres.

Good advice from @Mac . If you are around Limerick, head out to Paul Gammell in Kilmallock, he would sort you out.

I got one of these for €1000 in Eurocycles in Dublin.

Was going to get a Planet X but I was too lazy to go out to Athlone.

Cheers lads. I’ll be in Dublin and looks like the commute will be short enough for now but I’ll likely move in a few months again. @Mac that’s pretty much what I was thinking, use the chance of the bike scheme to get a decent bike and then a single speed for the commute. How much are we talking to purchase a serviceable racer? Would I get out of the two of them for a grand?

Is he the lad who had all his bikes robbed a few weeks ago?

That’s on Chain Reaction cycles and you can’t do bike to work scheme with them, pal. Also, there’s 33% knocked off the price. As it was I got it at a reduced price for a grand.
