It isn’t. There will never again be a top full back who isn’t a very good attacking player
Cesar Azpilicueta is the best full back around now.
Alex Sandro and the Atleti left back are very good too and they are good nuts and bolts defenders.

Azpilicueta is a grand player and a good defender but he wouldn’t make the team for a very good team in this day and age. You need to be able to attack
That was a long time ago, it was under Trap. He’s playing centre half for Bayern now. Very good player
Azpilacueta is a perfectly competent attacking full back. He has a great cross. He’s a more accomplished defender.

That’s just Johnny Giles back in my day type stuff though. Alexander Arnold is clearly much more valuable to a team than Azpilicueta. Is Azpilicueta even getting a game these days with your man James playing?
