Darren Frehill Mistake Watch

Darren introduced Tom GLYNN, manager of Glen Barntown, to the studio before the hurling match. Tom Dempsey just laughed.

Not Darren but RTE had a shocker on the Six-One sports news.

John Kenny was doing the match report from Pairc ui Chaoimh and referenced a ‘Shane Barrett’ for Waterford.

Then it cuts back to the the studio where Joe Stack describes Spurs taking the lead against City. He then adds “but Laporte has just equalised for the visitors.”

Full time - Spurs 2 City 0.

At half time in the Tipp game yesterday Darren said it would be fitting for Tipperary to win in particular after the Blood Sunday Celebrations the previous night.

Also they played an interview with Dessie Farrell, where he gave the usual Dublin stock answers to everything in his particularly boring voice. When they returned to the studio Darren said “Wow, some facinating insights there from Dessie Farrell” (he wasn’t be sarcastic).

Dessie is doing his best to morph into jim gavin in interviews but he can’t quite carry it off.

I think he’s actually worse than Gavin.

He is worse, at least Gavin was somewhat polished, Dessie, being more of a “common Dub”, just makes it sound like he’s a bit slow.

Dessie makes Jim Gavin look like Eddie Jones

Darren calling for Cavan v Dublin, Navan at 6pm on Saturday. May fit miners hats to all the players as there is no floodlights in Navan.

Should move it to PUC. I hear the surface is unrale.

Why on earth would he do that?

It’s an All Ireland semi. Croker obviously.

Typical Free Stater.

More of a level playing field if it’s outside Croker. It’s a joke that Dublin get home advantage all the time. It’s made worse that they have won 10 Leinsters in a row and 7 AI’s in those years, all at Croke Park.

This game could easily be played in Newry or Armagh or Port Laoise.

Lads. I’m going to do a tentative log and over the week I’ll listen back online and see if I wronged Darren, as I’m only 60/40 he said this.

Today he talked about Galway “upsetting the apple tart”… At least I think that’s what he said, unless it was his pronunciation of “cart” being a little wayward

We await your confirmation on this. I would go out on a limb and say that he said ‘tart’.

He said in his half time summation today that Canning scored two sidelines when in fact he scored three.

But he did score 2

And another one

Not a mistake so
