Darren Frehill Mistake Watch

You’re a segway/segue

Dessie on the radio earlier commenting on Dublin’s thirteenth consecutive Leinster title said that it was getting a little bit one sided.

These are my favourite type of Frehilism’s, where you can almost see the mistake forming in his head, the things he says are not unrelated to the topic, but yet still completely incorrect.

Like an old Musket, the gun is there, the bullets are there, the gun powder is loaded correctly, all the requirements are there but you still can’t be entirely sure what will happen when the trigger is pulled

Not Frehill, but just listened to John Kenny doing the late night sports news on RTE and he had an absolute nightmare.

Seriously mispronounced Kevin de Bruyne, really struggled with Rhasidat Adeleke and also declared that Shamrock Rovers had their first ever victory over Cork City.

Meat you buy from a vet after he puts an animal down

To give John his dues, he did correct himself on that one.

It’s when you need to lose weight on a boat to make it go faster and you throw off the vet

Morning Ireland this morning and Darren is regaling us about Ciara McGeens heroics. He then tells us that if you missed the race last night that he has a treat in store for us to “watch”. He then goes on to play commentary of the final lap.

Paul Kimmage has a pop at poor Darren today.

"There was also, Frehill said, “a much better showing yesterday, 43rd” from Cork’s Eddie Dunbar, which was true if you knew nothing about cycling and were comparing it to his 101st place finish a day before. But there’s a context to everything in sport and this was anything but a better showing. Dunbar, a climber, had been dropped by the leading group 4km from the finish, and bombed on a stage.

A reminder, if it were needed, that when we focus on results, and ignore the bigger picture, we inevitably make a shite of it."

Frehill probably thinks Dunbar is a relation of the famous Isle of Man TT family.

Has Paul considered the bigger picture is such results suggest Dunbar probably isn’t doping?

I’m sure he has. Eddie finished in the top 10 in the Giro. Vuelta just didn’t work out

As good a place as any
