David Clifford

Clifford would be great in Aussie Rules, heā€™d get a load of points for putting the ball wide.

They couldnā€™t handle David Gillick or Shane Suppleā€™s fame. Mescal hadnā€™t yet got his lad out when togging out for Kildare so doesnā€™t count.

Shane Supple ended Dublin GAA. It no longer exists.

Disappointed that the great PJ Fingers Oā€™Connell didnā€™t make the list given his unique strut and mullet

I thought of him in the three second gap between seeing the notification you had posted but before I had read the post.

A strut of the sort that could start a thousand fights outside rural Irish nightclubs in the mid to late 1990s.

How a well experienced forumite like you has gotten so rattled over a 25 year old sportsman is beyond me.

Iā€™m deeply rattled.

in the early to mid 1970s JBM was pretty recognisable, the skinhead 18 year old in 1973 scoring goals for Cork footballers as they won the all ireland and then dual player with a big mop of hair , scoring goals for the footballers as Kerry beat them every year and scoring goals for the hurlers as they won Munster and all irelands

Jimmy Barry Murphy has a very memorable name, really rolls off the tongue nicely

You are the second most frequent poster on this thread and none of the posts are positive. I would believe that is called rattled alright.

Theres great needle and divilment altogether in this thread. More shouldering and ballhopping than in many a match at headquarters.

This is actually true. I remember Cliffordā€™s miss that screwed way wide off his foot more than any of the points that day.

Iā€™d love clifford to be great to pose a serious challenge but he has an awful supporting cast unfortunately

Iā€™m not so sure. As in i think the supporting cast of forwards is actually decent enough. Its the defence and the openness (i know) that kills them. I just think Armagh had a bit of voodoo this year combined with Galway bottling it/injuries.

So had Maurice for much of his time. It did nothing to diminish his greatness or legacy.

Ah theyā€™re dirt. Only the brother is half decent. Geaney should be gone years ago, Seanie o Shea has no legs, Stephen o Brien is gone now and I canā€™t remember any of the rest. Moran for all his faults could kick it in - midfielders now are orcs.

So basically David carried to them to an all Ireland on his own
