Davy Fitz- a thread for the non-believers

Chairman Micheal Martin

Really? Is that what you are using as a bench mark? That thing is normally plucked from the sky. It deserves no kind of serious discussion.

We all know Fogarty is a complete shill and mouthpiece for Davy but even by his standards it is pretty outrageous and very bad form to be hawking Davy for the Galway gig when Oā€™Neill is still in place and no decision made on his future.

If it was roles reversed and someone in the media was speculating who would replace Davy in a gig he still had it would be fill a few more pages of the dossier and the journalist would be getting a phone call

this is a move that makes sense.

Mate?

Oā€™Neill has to go

no, the point being is that Galvin got rid of the captain of the team and starting player, yet he is now reinstated by the current manager and is performing well on merit. He should never have been cut by Galvin. It was just a reinforcement of the point that he was getting rid of one of the best players at his disposal because he thought he wasnt worthy of being on the squad, never mind the team.

That and the fact Galvin consistently referred to the players he cut over the course of his tenure despite none of them raising any sort of his issue with how they were treated.

yeah the constant referring to them and not naming them but making it obviously clear who he was talking about. He handled it all wrong and then just upped and left.

Youā€™ve made fair and reasonable posts tending to defend Davy and backed then up. Really bucking the trend on TFK. Some of the lads donā€™t know where to look or how to respond that a fella that knows a bit about it isnā€™t castigating Davy. Good job.

Davy has been grand, but isnt beyond criticism either. He hasnt milked us dry and did reasonably well with a good team at his disposal. But his time had come and needs to move on for everyones sake. Iā€™ve zero criticism on how he has handled finances or what he has been paid here, which seems to be most peoples bones of contention. But you cant get past the fact that he has lost 4 of his last 5 championship games (Laois this year the sole win). Its not good enough and the team needs rejuvenation. So it does.

this is a move that suits both parties. And its leaving on decent terms from both sides.

Fair assessment, totally agree.

isnā€™t it an awful thing to see.

these balanced, thought out and well measured posts are a scourge of TFK so they are

Micheal had high praise for Davy the last time I spoke to him about things. Unless something went catastrophically wrong in the past couple of months.

Theyā€™ve been missing for a while. Used be more of it. Now itā€™s all painful ā€œwinding upā€ and claiming you have the other lads ā€œhoppingā€.

John Meyler might have a craic off it.

Itā€™s a pity Liam Cahill is no longer available. Heā€™d have been an ideal successor to Davy.

What club?

Things like that mean a lot down in Wexford. Sure Liam Dunne counts being called up as a replacement on an All Star tour as an honour.

Iā€™m not sure lynskey has the nous for it tbh.
