So you are counting Davyās medals in goals as proof heās a good manager 
He was 35 when he came on at the end of the 2002 final. Which was fairly sentimental on the face of it but Andy Comerford had to beg Cody to bring him on.
He was done at that stage however the late for training scenario sounds extremely Power-esque!
And Davy owes that man more than anoyone in terms of his CV section saying Trophies Won- Not Munster leagues either.

You seem to thing because you win one all Ireland you get a pass. Clare were blessed to win it in 2013. Over his 5 years in charge of the Clare team heād a terrible record. One year was the outlier. Heās a spoofer.

Clare won 4 u 21 All-Irelands in 5 years. 1 senior out of that was bad enough but the regression hurling wise of most of these under Davy was shameful. We couldnāt beat Wexford in Ennis as defending cjhampions ffs.

He won an All Ireland with a poor team. Heās done a great job with Wexford, they were a rabble when he took over
He overachieved in 2013. Nothing he done afterwards suggested heād any clue what he was doing.

He completely finished Conor McGrath, an outstanding player and one of the best forwards in the country at the time.
Had him floating around the half backline ffs.

They won the softest All Ireland of recent times, without having to beat the best 2 teams of this era.

Itās bizarre lads think winning an all Ireland makes you untouchable. Davy will get the most out of a group of underachievers for two to three years. Eventually people catch on and realize heās just a spoofer. To win an all Ireland youāve to win about four games. Clare got a very luck run and took their chances.
Limerick won 3 under all Ireland in the early noughties and won those players fuck all thereafter .
If you look at the Clare team that won in 2013 very few of the defence are still hurling the last few years , bugler , donnellan , Dillon and DOD . Also Conor Ryan was a massive loss
Davy starting Shane Odonnell in 2013 was a masterstroke. 3-3 and motm. Told him the morning of the match so he wouldnāt be getting nervous. Brilliant management

Davy would have ended up on a slab if he came to galway. Half the county would have had the knives out from day one, any reasonable medical advice would have highlighted the risks.
He would have no business trying to teach a galway team well on the road a whole new game plan. They need man managing and a bit of direction, not an overhaul. I doubt he would realise this.
But ultimately it came to money. Meehawl had to fight tooth and nail for every bag of hurls. No such thing as work away and send us the receipts. how would that suit davy? No blank cheque so he would have walked for that and other reasons, he wouldnāt have a dressing room of starry eyed lads starved for success who would fully buy into him.
Best for both sides it went the way it did. So long amateurism though, you need a good heft to prepare a team properly now and we are at the back of the pack.
