Whatā€™s the perception of the job Rooney has done at Derby? Never would have had him down as a managerial revolutionary but I suppose Frank Lampard was in the top 1% in terms of IQ and still struggled in the big time as a manager.

No, heā€™s from Sunderland/South Shields.

I guess some players can be quite passionate about the clubs they play for. Itā€™s probably hard to play to the best of your ability if you donā€™t have some sort of emotional connection, even if itā€™s only to the rest of the players in the group.
