overpriced for sure

7 is saucy but they do a decent salad, one opened down the road from me and despite reservations I’ve been happy enough

There is a deli counter in the same shop where I’d put together a similar salad bowl for 4 euro. So your man is getting 3 euro to chop it

It’s all about the show, pal… dazzle them with lights and empty their pockets.

Amen. I had a similar experience myself the one and only time I tried. At least it gives people the option of being fleeced for a healthy salad rather than a shit meal.

I think they call that the mug premium.

There’s another place called Sprout which is more expensive than Chopped. People merrily eating a €12.50 bowl of kale, beetroot and sliced carrot.

I had a lovely salad from Sprout last week on Lower Mount St

Look, if it was organic chicken and organic veg you might say its worth a small premium but it’s likely to be some cheap ass chicken from god knows where…

I went into one of those shit holes once. Never again.

I had an apple for breakfast, a bowl of soup for lunch and I believe there is a stew being cooked at home for dinner.

What would I know though…maybe a shitty chopped salad and a tv dinner from spar made in a warehouse is better value and nicer.

Most shops who sell dinners make them in-house fella.

At least in cork they do

Kev, the only dinner you posted up was the one you dont normally get iirc, can you post up one from here perhaps? I’m curious enough. Its a fine website.

Agreed on the chicken but there must be an option for a no meat salad? They do a falafel one which I got in a wrap there and it was very good.

Monaghan or some such post-Larry Goodman fuel-laundering hot spot.

It’s not a patch on the TJ Reid signature one

I cooked a squash chickpea and aubergine stew last night while cooking my dinner. Ingredients probably cost €7 at most. Bit of quinoa with it and it’ll do 4 days lunches.

Good stuff. I dont see much issue with what you’re doing. There’d be evenings there, back in the day, coming in from training and you’d have fuck all time to prep anything or buy anything and you’d eat any sort of shite that was to hand. In your circumstances, Monday to Friday, I see it as a great option for a man without kids etc, and a good disposable income to eat heathily and not have to concern yourself with running around doing a bit of shopping etc. It was a well spotted niche in the market for the company, best of luck to them.

So you go and spend 12.00 on a salad during the day and then lecture us on getting ready made meals.

The only difference is you watch them throw together the salads etc.

And pay 6 extra to go and collect it.:joy::joy::joy:
