I’m surprised nobody has posted up about the new runway opening today in Dublin Airport. Our No.1 airport.
It will be capable of servicing larger long-haul aircraft, including the Boeing 747-8 and Airbus A 380-800.
This gives Dublin Airport two terminals and three runways. I always thought that in relation to airports Terminals=Runways. But seemingly not. When you read the small print the middle runway, running at 90 degrees to the other two will see very little if any traffic now and will be used mostly as a taxi-way.
So will it help the congestion at the airport - I doubt it.
Is it wise in relation to our greenhouse gas emissions targets - probably not.
