Iād never get involved in a row. I tried once and got no thanks for it. Iād walk around the corner and discretely inform the authorities these days
Iām no hero but when I saw @Sidney massacre a cohort of wannabe Clint Eastwoods by pointing out their total hypocrocy on the Cork thread I knew I had to intervene. Itās wrong to just stand back and do nothing so please @Sidney lay off them mate. For the love of humanity man, they are harmless enough lads really, they know not what they say
If fellas are going to watch a man being brutally killed they deserve a warning
What is the legality of having your image taken and used without consent?
If its a familly feud Iām sure that wonāt be the last episode. Just imagine what might be going through the deceasests families minds watching that video
Iām not really a phone person so I highly doubt Iād have recorded it
But the high likelihood is it appeared just like a lot of other fights that occur on streets
It appeared like two scumbags beating the tar out of each other and that they were well matched
There was certainly nothing in the video to indicate that what was about to happen would happen
I think itās highly unlikely I would have intervened
Ironically the chap who filmed the thing, who some people here seem to be more down on than the actual perpetrator, will probably be responsible for the perpetrator being served justice
He should be thanked if anything
As long as everybody is videotaping everybody else, justice will be done, as somebody once said
Apart from the cameraman saying distinctly that one, who was clearly trying to get away, was getting an awful beating, nothing.
The video has been taken down now but my recollection is that the first 11 seconds of the video strongly resembled a fair if pretty vicious looking fight between two neāer do wells of the sort that is sadly not that uncommon on urban streets
Thankfully we have lads here that can make retrospective moral judgements about the cameraman and about how they themselves would have reacted to a very rapidly unfolding event, based on having the benefit of knowing the tragic end outcome and multiple VAR viewings
Two Limerick lads up in cork for the night by all accounts
A disgusting attempt at sweep sweepery
The best we can hope for is that the footage will help get the murderer convicted with a good long sentence.
Remember in the mid to late 00s, outside Supermacs in Limerick city was a lethal place to get ājumpedā on a weekend night.
I think it reflects very badly on modern society that people stand idly back and watch such things
Breaking fights up is a dodgy businessā¦ Iāve broken a few up and got slaps for my thanksā¦ Iād generally not get involved now unless someone was getting a battering , I probably wouldnāt think twice about stepping in then.
People have always stood idly back and watched such things
Correct. Only a certain type of person Would step inā¦ 90% of people wouldnātā¦ Whipping out a phone is something Iāll never comprehend.
He has a phone. He has 4 choices
a) record it and comment in an excited fashion about a bating
b) step in to assist a person in obvious need of assistance
c) call the police
d) none of the above
He chose the most cuntish option. He then shared the video.
He is a vile human being who I hope one day requires looking after and is stepped over.
Agreed
And the minority of people of would who would step into a fight theyāve chanced upon will only step in under certain circumstances such as if the odds are obviously stacked massively against a protagonist, or if it is close to them physically, like within ten yards or less, or if the protagonists are a certain ālookā
In the fight shown in that video, Iād guess less than 1% of people would have stepped in, perhaps less than 0.1%, especially given the speed with hich it all happened
In fairness, no one could have seen what happened comingā¦ Granted, instead of laughing at him getting an awful hiding, he could have put the phone diwn and shouted out for him to stopā¦
