The Wuhan Antidote
What’s going on there old sport?
Whats a whiskey mac
It’s a whiskey mixed with a shot of Stones ginger wine. Very nice drink to have just before you head out into the cold night.
Old Fashioned. Becoming my favorite cocktail, although wouldn’t waste good whiskey in it. A slice of orange, bit of lemon peel, a few fancy cherries, add a cube of Sugar and some bitters. Muddle to a paste, fill the glass with ice and add a few shots of bourbon or rye. Stir and drink.
What’s the difference between bourbon, rye and whisky mate?
Whats a whiskey mac
A strong smelling whiskey. It catches you on the nose.
They’re all whiskey/whisky. Whiskey can be made from any grain, wheat, barley, corn, rye. There’s differences in the processes but Bourbon is made from at least 51% corn and Rye from at least 51% rye.
Can you taste the difference?
And what makes whisk(e)y legally so?
Yes. Every whiskey tastes different, bourbon is very distinctive, sweet from glucose in the corn, rye has a sharper taste.
Don’t know about the legal definition, probably any spirit distilled from a fermented mash of grains would technically qualify.
@Malarkey, if one were to buy a bottle or couple of bottles of whiskey to out away for 10 or 20 years, to either give as gifts or open on a special occasion, what would you recommend? I really liked the dingle whiskies. cc @Fagan_ODowd, I recall you posting you do something similar for the nephews.

I’d say the Waterford ones will be the ones to watch.
O Brien’s Irish Whiskey sake on now. Value seems to be on Jameson Coopers Croze and Blenders Dog. 20-30 euro off but I’d say these weren’t great sellers.
If you are putting it away for 20 years you would never drink it. If you do theres no real point buying it now.
Some other mug might buy it off you.
It’s actually a nice thing to buy a lad or lass when they are young, and give it to them when they are old enough to appreciate it.
My godmother bought me a case of port when I was born My dad and bro mostly drank it as I don’t much like port There’s one bottle left. It’s worth about £400 now. I’m afraid to let my oil fella drink in case he expires once he’s finished the case.

A few shots…crazy yanks!
Not much of the good stuff thankfully😄

You’d be better off buying a case or two of a good Bordeaux vintage and age it properly for a decade or more.
