Why are you copying @anon61878697?
There’s no shell station in there.

How long are you gone away? There hasn’t been a Shell station for 10 years at least

It’s only Circle K, Applegreen and Maxol now. That’s the way it’s gone now.

Where’s Texaco gone ?

Texas…

Was having another think about this issue, because I like thinking about whisky. Another really interesting bottle for you, in light of criteria expressed, would be Benromach 10yo. You could pick up one for €40 or less:

The hook is that Benromach is a Speysider, a region not at all associated with peat and smoke, qualities traditionally a coastal emphasis. Benromach – a distillery that set out its stall, a decade and more ago, on a return to ‘old-fashioned’ production methods – crosses this expectation. Yes, you do have Speyside body and roundedness – but with a twist. There are hints of murk and smoke – but no more than a hint. Might be rightly your thing because Benromach 10yo is a bit like Black Bush gone wrong in the nicest possible way.

Had quite a few glasses of Benromach earlier this year and the place really has taken off. Possibly the most underrated Scottish distillery around, with prices correspondingly decent.

Not too much oxidation here after 130 years

Where does Johnny walker stand in the scheme of things?

Which one? Black label is very good value imo.

What’s the order? I know there’s black red and blue, but not much after. Seems to be everywhere. Would it be a jamesons equivalent?

Red, Black, Double Black, Green, Gold, Platinum, Blue.
I suppose Red would be the closest to regular Jamesons.

Red is awful swill

Black is a step up from regular Jamesons though.

Most of those low end Scotchs are terrible stuff. I wouldn’t wash my feet with Teachers or Black & White

Agreed.

I was in a bar near dingle of all places about 20 years ago, inland somewhere, with a pal of mine who’s a teacher there. They were selling back red. And blue for the same price. He had us drinking one of them saying they’d made a mistake and didn’t realise. Must have been blue we were drinking, though it was wasted on me. Might as well have been powers.
First and only time I’ll get one over on a kerryman, even if its only in retrospect.

Blue is a lovely drink but ridiculously overpriced.

I was at a funeral of a relative a while back and my father got out a bottle of Teeling Single Grain. It’s one of the nicest I’ve ever tasted. 46% proof though so tread carefully with it.
