Black is a lovely everyday scotch and great value here as scotches go at 40-45e.
Occasionally tesco would have it at 35.
I picked a 1l bottle in faro airport this summer for 33e i think.
More or less what I am trying to get at by the metaphor… Not many whiskies are ‘tight’ – save some cask strength ones. If you drink an example straight away, you sense – or at least I do (but have seen the comment elsewhere) – a power in the whiskey that is at a remove. Put it this way: Redbreast 21yo is a second half hurler.
I basically mean you need to give Redbreast Cask Strength and Redbreast 21yo a lot of time in the glass, breathing, before its best facets emerge. More pronounced a feature with the 21yo. Lot of power there. They seemingly use quite a lot of 27yo and 28yo in the 21yo.
Iv a bottle of red drank and am moving into some whiskey now.
Im having a large JW black and ill have another after that.
Tonight is purely a night for quantity over quality though. Youd misd aul @Brimmer_Bradley on nights like this. Hed sit there in the box room and join you with a bottle of powers.
