How many other superstars have they let slip through their fingers due to missing their potential? Was it a bigger miss than Leinster letting Beirne go?
Dillane was offered an academy deal on about 10k a year, Connacht offered about 30k development deal. In hindsight of course it is a poor decision but I dont think its a symptom of a great structural deficiency in the organisation that you are hinting at.
Ryan was a disappointing loss. No doubt. Munster fans and Id say much of the coaching structure were seething over it. But when the IRFU wont pay the piper then what do you do. Munster knew they had Murray, Stander and POM to tie down and id say whatever private money they had available to supplement IRFU salary was accounted for there. And they knew they had Beirne in pipeline.
On top of which Ryan was at the higher age range, wasnât cast-iron for Ireland (i.e. not a central contract by any means) and had a significant injury profile.
There is definitely an underbelly of continued victimhood from some Munster fans, itâs fairly unbecoming.
The victimhood here is coming from glas though who isnt a Munster fan. Agree with your latter point think I said as much at the time disappointing to lose him but was some logic behind the decision whether one agreed with it or not
He was the best lock in Ireland last year without doubt and he would be starting for Ireland in the 6 nations were he still here and fit. The rest is all true and heâs more or less been injured since he went there anyway.
I donât bother that much but Iâd watch rugby and generally like to see minster winning, or any of the Irish teams. I just think theyâve been pretty shambolic in this whole episode.
There was probably less money available at the time sexton went which is another factor.
Youâre point about the clubs having an eye on other upcoming contracts and picking their battles is a good one.
Is this the guy that weirdo Kimmage mentions or interviews every 2 or 3 months? Heâs as bad as Brolly for recycling the same article. Seems to be a real âI need to have the last wordâ merchant.
