walkovers all over the place in Dublin Club GAA the last fortnight from even Div 1 teams

the same bug that was afflicted the county senior football camp for the match Saturday is rampant on the club scene as well seemingly!! hence clubs cant field

More Div 2 games conceded tonight. A legendary football club like Vincent’s too

Is there something on this particular weekend festival-wise or what?

It’s Dublin mate - there’s always loads on. However this weekend was supposed to be a free one in the football fixtures calendar but county board have fixed a load of games. Lads would have booked holidays on the basis they could take a break before coming back in to get ready for championship. I’d expect another raft of walkovers this weekend.
Also with Dublin expected to be still in the championship, a lot of the games originally fixed for tonight were probably expected not to be played with clubs with county players invoking the Rule 8 and deferring game until Dublin are knocked out

None of this would have happened under The Don Costello’s watch.

Lol - you haven’t been looking at final league games outside of your Kilmacud Crokes obsession over the last few years

I was on a wind up.

That Rule 8 thing is a bit ridiculous really. What’s it there for really to let Brian Fenton play the last two games for Raheny to either get them promoted from Division 2 or stay in Division 1?

Yeah - it’s a nod to clubs who have had to play without their county players all year at an unfair advantage.
Btw Kilkenny played like a man possessed tonight v Clontarf away. Must have scored 7 or 8 points from play from midfield. Jack mc wasn’t as effective for the opposition. Castleknock won by 3.

It shouldnt have to be that way if County players were released to clubs during the year.

In fairness i believe Dessie has always been reasonably helpful towards clubs and Fenton even played for Raheny this year after getting suspended for Dublin.

He lets himself down badly with all the Crokes slurs . A great club.

This is common behaviour around counties.

Keep a close eye there or someone might give Dessie some credit.
