What were the rules on it and how did they bend them? I remember in some counties you had to be from a junior club and in weaker counties you just had to have not played senior inter county
Not sure on what the rules were in football - the bigger hurling counties like Cork, Tipp, Kilkenny used to pick lads only from junior or intermediate clubs.
From the pic there is Mick Fitzsimon, O’Gara, Johnny Cooper and Bastick on it - I’m sure there are a few more names on it too
In Dublin you couldn’t have played senior champo that year or the year previous.
Fitzy would have been 19, Cooper 18, O’Gara was arguably more a junior player with flashes, sure Bastick was 28 by the time he made his champo debut in 09 after he done his ACL in 07. Butsy Daly was there (Fingal Ravens inter club) and made the senior panel in 11, Darren Homan was there as he had retired on medical advice and a few years later went back to junior for brief appearances

Cuala were intermediate then as were Templogue. J Cooper was just out of minor so probably hadn’t played senior championship with na fianna. It was always a bit of an arse of a competition with different counties using different eligibility criteria.
