Gone very watery

Gravediggers is back since August.

Looking forward to getting back to McNeills on Capel Street and Cleary’s on Amiens Street myself.

One thing I heard about the Gravediggers is that you can’t sit outside in the summertime now because the locals were complaining. I wouldn’t be out that way too often, haven’t been there in a few years.

Fallon’s and Tom Kennedy’s are glorious

Also an unreal to God pint

Was in Briody’s the morning of the AI Final. The pint bottles of cider were lovely.

I know this is a common conspiracy theory, always denied, but has Guinness gradually gone a little more watery over the past decade?

I remember when I was just out of college, I probably had a borderline drink problem, but if I went a week without a pint of Guinness, fuck me the next one would hit my tastebuds like a shovel. To quote John Denver, it would fill up my senses like a night in the forest. I still like it, it’s still the best drink, but it’s a long time since I got a hit like that off a pint of stout.

Has it changed or did I just have too much of a taste for it?

The Gravediggers be a good spot to send them. Unreal pint of porter and can go in do the touristy thing they have for graves of the Rising volunteers etc

I finished up there that night, The Celt was gone out of all control!

The Celt was tremendous fun.

It was only this year I found out the celt had two or three huge back rooms. I always thought it was the shitty little bar at the front. A lovely mix of roasters and rough inner city heads.

Baldy McDonagh and myself being there on the same night a good example of that

Fallon’s Fountain

The Clock, Bakers, Tom Kennedy’s and what was Ryan’s on James’ Street were all good places for porter. The Old Harbour is another good boozer in the shadow of James’ Gate

You all know the Guinness is exactly the same in all of these pubs? Standardized refrigeration and line maintenance by Guinness. Only variable is a barman who can’t pull a pint but there very few of these that would survive long in Dublin.
