I was in The Blue Light pub up the mountains the other day. Brilliant scenery and great vibes among the sizeable crowd there. Apparently it’s hopping in midweek during the summer. I overheard some fella on the phone telling his missus that he was 3 pints deep and didn’t think he’d be able to drive home. He was firmly on his way to Teach an Madra
Had a scatter in Briodys this evening. Noble spot - Roy Curtis and Eamon heery in attendance
Any pub to watch the match around Heston Station? On LUAS line.
What was that Limerick pub across the river. Don’t recognise it on Google Maps now.
The Galway Hooker in the station isn’t great.
Called Duggans now.
May not have it on though because of the concert on in Pheonix Park.
Were serving from plastic glasses last night and took out a load of the chairs to accommode the crowd
Ate any of these cathedrals between the Abbey theatre and Smithfield, it’ll just be me and the missus tonight so looking for somewhere the music won’t be too loud ![]()
Delaneys in Smithfield is solid out and will have it. Only a short walk from the Smithfield Luas stop
The Oval would be more or less enough route…I like the Lotts even though I don’t know would it qualify as a cathedral…also on the way…close enough to stoneybatter after few nice pubs there if you wanted to get out of city centre…kavanaghs or walshes
The Abbey is in Cathedral central tbh.
Briodys up the road a personal fave of mine.
The Boars is worth a shot too but more a Gaelic Football pub.
Looks like I’ll be in the Hooker.
Id imagine the hurling will be on most places because a lot of places dont have GAA go
You don’t do yourself any favours
I dont think theres even a TV in my beloved Galway Hooker anymore?
Pipers corner the road from the Abbey will have proper trad music. Not too loud. Cobblestone in Smithfield is a top music pub. Could be anything on there
I haven’t been in a while. It wouldn’t be my cup of tea for watching a match.
Head up to Thomas/James Street would be my advice or Smithfield. All within 10 minute walk of Heuston
Ah, I can’t stray too far.
Timing is tight. Train up is over booked. No flexibility on the way down either these days. And I want to be gone before the deranged Limerick supporters arrive back.
Surely there is.
Duggans is a grand spot. They’ll have the hurling on but will be busy with the concert in Phoenix Park.
And a queue for food.
