Fair point. The inclusion of DOB swayed me.
Cleary’s delivers yet again.
A cathedral.
Brannigans, not a bad pub. Briodys, way too busy but a good pint.
Walsh’s up there at number 2 and rightly so. Always a pleasure to have a sup in this cathedral of pubs.
2010 final on the box in Chaplin’s. The Tippos have their chests out.
I should clarify there aren’t any actual Tippos here, at least visible ones. The smell of farts is pungent.
You could have put that list together without ever drinking a pint in Dublin. Chat GPT would probably come up with similar
A guru should be firing up a few random spots that I’ve never heard of

…from my Guinness drinking days, Fallons of the Liberties was my No. 1 spot for the black stuff.
Best pint of Guinness in Dublin, great call. Must have the smallest toilet
Does the Guinness differ from pub to pub much (if at all) any more? They are all getting the kegs from the same brewery and Guinness are installing the same refrigeration and doing the maintenance on the lines. I’d say this best Guinness craic is a myth. Of course you could have an outlier at the other end of the scale like Quinns in days of old where the kegs are floating in a sea of shit but that’s about the size of it.
You won’t really get bad pints anymore anyways, but some barstaff can certainly pour better pints than others. It’s still hard enough to find a place that will consistently produce really exceptional pints. I think the more exceptional pints are a bit of luck.
I’m not so sure on that.
A lot of it is to do with the distant of the draw.
The shorter the draw the better.
There’s plenty of places where it’s shite.
Glassware is a highly significant factor with pints. And the care given to glassware in various pubs is highly variable. And so the pint standard becomes variable.
Food-orientated pubs suffer in this regard. There is no coincidence in the fact that nearly all of the strongest rated pubs for Guinness eschew food.
Ó Riada’s in Kilkenny, which has terrific Guinness, decided not to use detergent for washing glasses.
How they dry their glasses counts as well.
Tis all down to the lines, glasses and washers really. Most have all that sorted
The most important thing is the pull on the tap.
Ah no. The lines are vital, as is the glass. You can pull it anyway you like otherwise. In truth all are equally importsnt I suppose as any one will sink you.
