Snug in Bowes. Like being in confession in a cathedral.
Massive respect for whoever is drinking the large bottle of Clonmel Champagne.
My comrade and socialist brother Johnny the red.
A brief excursion into Dublin City Centre today with the missus and we made it our business to call into Dublin’s best pub - Chaplins.
The owner/wife of the owner made a beeline for us. We would have drank in there a lot pre the young lad coming along. Truth be told it was mainly my wife she wanted to speak to. She hadn’t been in there pre the little lad, I had been in once or twice.
A great chat and then she puts us up two drinks. Where would you get it smack bang in Dublin City centre?
That’s class
Lovely woman and in good nick too
I found out her age tonight.
I couldn’t believe it.
Should see the daughter
The lady in question is the wife of one of the owners?
Do I have that right?
I would have thought there was a big age gap but maybe not.
Steady Jeffrey
I’d say Roy’s head would explode reading this.

Myself and the Barnes clan went into M&L for our traditional Christmas Eve lunch. We then went down to Pipers Corner for a few drinks. There was a music session in there and it was tremendous. Loads of them. The ones i recognised were Sean McKeon and Sean Potts on uileann pipes. Friend of the forum Doireann ni Glaicean on fiddle and vocals and some beardy cunt thats famous (but not famous enough) on vocals too. We left reluctantly after 3 pints to make sausage stuffing.
Doireann is almost certainly an alright sort. She chatted with my 18 year old daughter at the bar as gaelige and was very encouraging about the daughters plans to study irish.
Doireann has put in some shift these past few weeks.
My daughter got me this for Christmas. Some brilliant stories and social history from Donal Fallon presenter of The Three Castles Burning podcast. Mrs Barnes strategically placed it in the jax so I’m flying through it. This reminded me pf my father telling me his mother used to leave copies of The Messenger Catholic magazine lying around their toilet when he was a young fella in an ill faithed attempt to instill some faith into himself and his 10 siblings.
